Stipe is the epitome of the great white hype. He only started winning once everybody fell off. He never had to fight Cain, Carwin or Overeem when Overeem was on top. He fought JDS on a downward slide and got beat down. He fought an even more shot JDS who started losing to everybody and won.
He never fought the top guys when the heavyweight division was picking up steam because he was losing to Stephan Struve on an undercard.

Stipe probably has the greatest win streak in MMA history, no other resume is close to his run from beating Mark Hunt to Ngannou. Maybe Volkanovski is the only one that has that name value under his belt
No one was watching his fights when he was champion.

Man this is insane to me.
All of those opponents except Francis were 5-10 years past their prime.
Some of them were a decade past.
His streak doesn’t even match Fedor or Igor’s. Let alone Renan or Aldo’s. Even Khabib’s streak is better than Stipes

Francis was arguably pre prime, and is an extremely one dimensional striker who, like Stipe, is only competitive because hw is incredibly thin now
