Forum DVD Offer

I've been a moderator on the weapons forum for quite a while
now and I've been very outspoken about my feelings on all
things martial.

Some of the people on the forums are not all that familiar with
my material so I am making the following offer to forum
members:

From now until the end of the month (Sept 30) you can have
any of my DVDs for just $25.00 each. Each order will still get
a free copy of the OC Spray Training Manual too.

http://www.demibarbito.com/videos.html

You can either send the money thru PayPal and just list the
vids you want or send a check or money order to the mailing
address on my contact page. (Don't order through the
website as PayPal will charge you full price).

On PayPal just pay to: Demi@DemiBarbito.com

http://www.demibarbito.com/videos.html

Was anything added to the new version of Fire Power besides chapters? That alone is almost worth getting another copy at those prices.

It's the same DVD. It's two DVDs actually, almost two hours of
material.

Demi -

Please do not take this the wrong way. It is a serious Q and not a troll.

I was with Professor Ricardo Murgel over the weekend (7th degree BJJ BB, head firearms instructor to many LEA's in brazil, as well as tech advisor to taurus) - he is going to a arrest and control class in Philly this week. He said they offered to give him training free class' in OC spray.

So here is the Q we were discussing - what's so tough about spraying anything - and why would one need a class in using it. I mean we spray arosol cans all the time. it would seem?? point and spray pretty much covers it.

just curious what else is involved

thanx

There is much more to OC Spray training than many think.

You need to know about the chemicals involved. It may be
OC or tear gas and some may include uv dye. You need to
know what the strengths and weaknesses of each are
(chemically and tactically) and likewise if they are mixed.

You need to know about potential reactions and lag times.

You need to know about delivery systems (stream, fog,
shotgun etc).

You need to know about stance and movement, mutiple
opponents and transition to secondary force options.

You need to know about the psychology and physiology of
OC spray.

I could go on...

"""we spray arosol cans all the time"""

Likewise, "a kick is just a kick and a punch is just a punch".

Demi

could you expand on some of these? Again, these are very serious questions, and I truely hope I'm not coming off as a troll, or argumentitive.

"You need to know about the chemicals involved. It may be OC or tear gas and some may include uv dye. You need to know what the strengths and weaknesses of each are (chemically and tactically) and likewise if they are mixed."

why? I dont need chemical compounds of gun powder. I just need to know it works.

"You need to know about potential reactions and lag times."

wounldnt that depend on the bad guys personal pain tolerence, ect. ?

"You need to know about delivery systems (stream, fog, shotgun etc)."

while i could see this, maybe. I would think that anywhere thats sells OC would have some kind of display, or a catelog that tells you how it's available

"You need to know about stance and movement, mutiple opponents and transition to secondary force options."

Stance? is there really a "right way" to stand while spraying? as far as the rest, it seems to more tacticle then anything else, and as long as you're trained in tacticle manuevers, it would apply to OC.

"You need to know about the psychology and physiology of OC spray"

can you please elaborate a little

thanx

Without rewriting my traioning manual...

You need to "know - see for yourself" what every type of
delivery system does. In other words you have to buy two
sprays and spray one to test "it's" pattern and how many
bursts. That way you know what that brand actually does
(distance, wind resistance, # of one sec bursts).

Yes there is a proper way to make an OC presentation just
like there is with a blade or gun. Tactical movement is based
on this presentation.

As far as chems goes... Tear gas affects people much
different than OC. How do people react to OC, how do they
react to tear gas? What is the nature of the affect (inflamatory
vs irritant).

Psychology and physiology is understanding that OC works
at different levels. Some people stop being combative
because they simply cannot continue other become extremly
concerned with their own well being and retreat. Some
realize that they can continue and proceed after a few
seconds they do so.

People need to understand the same things about firearms.

Using OC against mutiple attackers is different than using it
against a single attacker.

I could go on but I'm just rewritting the info in the training
manual.

Demi

I placed an order. Demi, did you see it come thru?

thanx for the reply demi

Order came thru.

Thanks

this DVD is AWESOME. it is a nice reference and very similar to what i learned in a 4-session, 4 hr/session tactical handgun class taught by a certified NRA teacher/SWAT officer/certified gunsmith.

DVD production quality was excellent. like 99.99% perfect. there were 3 or 4 1-second sound glitches, but hardly noticeable. the slow motion scenes on the range were pretty cool.

demi barbito is amazingly articulate. and he knows his stuff. he gives you plenty of information and builds you up through the course of the DVDs.

there were some differences in certain techniques, but are basically just a matter of opinion:

1) i was taught to release the slide locking lever to arm the gun, demi teaches to pull back on the slide than release it. i prefer HIS method because i am not always successful with my thumb in getting that lever down.

2) i was taught to walk with knees bent in a normal fashion; demi teachers the step-slide method. i prefer NORMAL WALKING because the step-slide is more prone to head-bobbing which alters your target picture. again, either way is useful, it's a matter of personal preference.

it'd be cool to see a THIRD DVD in this series--there's one clip of demi shooting while lying on his back. obviously this is an extremely unlikely situation, but the more training, the better. it would be cool also if he, say, went through his house or a friends house and showed "moving to cover" and setting up a "safe room".

overall, 10/10. worth every penny, ESPECIALLY with this forum deal!

Sean,

Thanks for the review. I'm glad you liked the material. The
production is not bad (it's a few years old). Our newer DVDs
are the "best produced" in the industry. Content, camera,
lighting and sound are excellent.

Everyone who has ordered the FIRE POWER 2 DVD set has
been really pleased. I'm very happy with the content and flow
of material.

Thanks again.

Demi

Thanks again.
