Last week I met up with UFC VP of Europe Middle East and Africa, David Allen, spoke about loads of stuff, too much for just one post, so here's part one. 'What's next?' What's next is Russia and France. Check it out below...
Nope 55 million people. EFC is on in South Africa and is currently getting almsot 27% of the AVAILABLE TV audience at the time. More than Rugby or Cricket. EFC is not a big organisation outside of SA, so if the UFC cracks open that cookie jar they could be looking at smashing that and being HUGE in Africa. I think the reach of UFC on TV is so huge. It's interesting what is to come.
Yeah, itll be very interesting to see if the UFC forgoes the exclusive period and opens up the contractual negotiations for counter-bidding in the USA, Brazil as well. I wonder if azteca will bid with Televisa next time, a possible dual distribution deal?
Also, great to see things moving along within Asia
I find it really intriguing how the TV deal will play out. Especially when you see what has just been paid for Premier League broadcast rights by Sky TV. £5bn for 3 seasons

UFC said years ago SA was next and they still dont have any kind of TV deal down here on top of that UFC events start at an absolutely ridiculous time down here. They dropped the ball with not getting a deal on Super Sport ages ago.
I spoke about the weird event start times and actually didnt really get much of an answer. Just that Fight Nights and FS1 fights would be locally aimed and any PPV regardless of where they are would likely be catering to a US audience, it seemed.
