Global FC Fight Card- Kerr, Monson

Warpath steps up to the plate to battle Butterbean at Global FC

During training for his scheduled Super Heavyweight clash with Eric "Butterbean" Esch, Stefan Gamlin suffered a knee injury that will require surgery. With Gamlin unable to compete, someone had to take on the unenviable task of going toe-to-toe with Butterbean on August 17 at Mohegan Sun Arena. Enter Ruben Villareal, better known as "Warpath".

Warpath, a proud Native American, is known for his courage; and for never backing down from a challenge. Don't expect Villareal to be intimidated as he is no stranger to high-profile competition. In fact, Warpath has faced many of the biggest names in the history of the sport including Dan "The Beast" Severn and Don "The Predator" Frye. Villareal took Frye to the limit in a hard fought battle that was declared a draw after the fight went the distance. Similar to his current act of bravery, Ruben recently stepped up, replacing Kimo in a main event with the legendary Bas Rutten. Villareal took the fight with only two days notice! Nobody else was willing to face Rutten under those circumstances.

Ruben is fresh off of first round submission victory (kimura) over Rafael Real on July 19. Warpath claims to be in the best shape of his career, and is excited to be part of the Global FC debut. When asked about the source of his fearless nature, Warpath stated, "Mother Bear and the Eagle Spirit guide and inspire me when I step into battle." With his signature war paint, Villareal is one of the most colorful and imposing competitors in all of MMA today. He also has a very tough chin, and is able to absorb a lot of punishment. That will serve him well as Butterbean has bone crushing punching power. This Super Heavyweight war has the makings of a real slugfest.

Why do I feel Sean O'Haire will be the victor?

When I first read the title I thought Monson and Kerr were fighting. That would have been worth seeing. Do you know anything about either of their oppponents?

Good to see Dewees fighting, kid has talent and lots of time to get better.

Well, at least Guillen is better than Sims (who Monson was fighting)

anyone know the full card?

two other big fights

darryl marcAurele vs frank latina

chaz ackles vs elias rivera

"Well, at least Guillen is better than Sims (who Monson was fighting) "

Yeah, Guillen beat Sims on a show a few weeks ago, which is why Global switched this fight to Monson-Guillen. Better matchup probably anyhow.

Wes had a cast on his arm at Bodog. I figured he'd be out.

How is Monson fighting on this card and then two weeks later on Art of War?

"Do you know anything about either of their oppponents?"

I dont know anything about Monson's opponent but Kerr's opponent, Sean O'Haire, is a big ex professional wrestler who is 1-2 in mma. He has beaten Shungo Oyama and has lost to Min Soo Kim and got KOed by Butterbean.

"How is Monson fighting on this card and then two weeks later on Art of War?"

He'll probably use an airplane to get from one event to the other.

People forgat about Fulton fighting a single bout on Friday, and an 8 man tournament on Saturday. Then next weekend he will just do a single fight.
