Greatest Video Store of All Time

"Queen Video" at the corner of Queen St West and Spadina in downtown Toronto.

They've got every damned film ever made and the people who run the place know what they're talking about. So much so that even if you have one of those ridiculously vague explanations of something you THINK you remember from twenty years ago they'll know what film you're referring to.

I went in there one time and said something like "God.. I don't know - Famous German director, I think it had someone singing "la coocaracha" and it was a bit of a dark film and..." and they go "Oh - Dog Days, Great film - the directors name is ________ and he's usually known for his documentaries but that was his only fictional work. Very beautiful - I also suggest renting "Models" by the same guy...

On their shelves I've seen everything from the most poetically beautiful to items that would inhabit Ferox13's wet dreams (With titles like "Jesus Christ Serial Rapist")

I just got inspired to make this post because it's so rare these days to find a place that not only has an amazing selection but is staffed by people who actually know what they're talking about.

I have also just given them random cues on what I might be interested in and have been introduced to some of the most beautiful gems you wouldn't find anywhere else.

My cat's breath smells like cat food.

RANDY WHY YOU MAKE A HEADBUTT TO GONZAGA FACE?!

Do they have Happy Scrappy Hero Pup?

That place is famous.

"RANDY WHY YOU MAKE A HEADBUTT TO GONZAGA FACE?!"

AYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!

They probably have cannibal campout and any other legit title mentioned.

Apparently whenever a celebrity is in town they'll put on their "disguises" and browse this place to find the treasures you can't find elsewhere.

For me though the defining feature is not the selection - but the knowledge the staff has of film.
