Greco works better with Wing Chun

Folks,

The reality is any technique from a TMA can be used effectively by someone who has good athleticism within reason. Some techniques would have to be modified and practiced hard in tough sparring sistuations to be pulled off. I mean mma has seen spinning back fists, variety of spinning kicks, head kicks etc. However they aren't high percentage moves and takes one of the most lacking aspects in MMA which is TIMING to pull off, that can be said for any MMA technique. That is why Chuck L. is doing well is he is able to effectively counter someones intent with his right hand along with not being afraid to throw a lot of em to raise the chance of one landing.

Modified trapping.. to the greco clinch and better in some aspects the thai clinch would do well in mma. Also leg checking could be a good asset which could lead to good kick counters or to get into the clinch as well. As well as modified stop/cross kicks to opponents legs could work well potentially. Quality Feinting is another one of the most under used aspects in MMA which helps set up attacks and counters. Food for thought.

Dont you hold your hands really low in WC? I would think thats a huge weakness.

Also, in your first post, you mentioned that Randy had sloppy, hands down boxing...usually he doesn't. Its only when he gets too sloppy (the two Chuck ko's does he do that).

IMO, the reason why the people you are sparring are good, is not becaue of their WC experience, its because they practice a lot of live sparring.

Have you ever seen a video where Wing Chun, Ving Tsun and Wing Tzun has been used against another trained fighter and work?

Research:

Igor Zinoviev vs Steve Faulkner.

Johnny Rhodes vs David Levicki.

Rickson Gracie vs. David Levicki.

Brian Johnston vs Reza Nasri (Wing Tzun and Greco under Emin Boztepe)

Dave "Dangerous" Beneteau vs Asbel Cancio

Levicki is definitely not a WC fighter. Cancio was a joke; regardless of what art he used, he should not have stepped in a cage. As for Faulkner and Nasri, I wouldn't know. I can't recall those fights.

trapping is hard to do standing.

it's better on the ground, where the range is a lot more static. trapping can be useful for guard passing too

It is also useful for sweeps on the ground IMO.

It's a lot about who you train with.Just like training with Fedor would be better than training with Joe Son.

I trained in TWC with SIFU JULIAN SAWYER in BMORE who got his training through SIFU CLAYTON...great guy...although I didn't care for the cult like worship my classmates had for CHEUNG.

ok.

That's the good thing about MMA--any and all theories on combat are welcome, as long as you compete and prove that they are effective.

If Wing Chun truly has something to offer it will eventually come to light.

"Heres a video of William Cheung getting his ass beat by Eman Boztepe.

LOL! For a so-called master, that dude got his ASS BEAT.

this is the infamous Boztepe incident

and this is a clip of WC "legend" Boztepe. This guy, btw, is a joke and IMO he made a career out of that incident alone. No wonder why he has never had a pro fight...

"What they do (look at Randy) is use very unorthodox and ineffective "dirty boxing" tactics; hands half way down, looping punches, running in and what have you."

Didn't read past this sentence, since it proves you're retarded. "Hands halfway down, looping punches, running in" are exactly what Randy (your chosen example) DOESN'T do. He keeps his hands up and punches his way into the clinch using basic boxing. And his "dirty boxing"is far from "inneffective"; he's beaten up many guys on the feet.

There's a reason Wing Chun guys are not effective in any competitive format.

btw, Randy is one of my favorite fighters but I'm sorry, his boxing has those holes indeed.
