Middleweight and LHW has the least well rounded fighters in the ufc. If GSP was a naturally bigger guy he could have dominated the middleweight division. There’s great fighters today but very few can mix up striking and wrestling the way gsp and khabib did.

It would have been interesting to see him stick around for Whittaker, Romero, etc. On paper they would have been stylistic nightmares while also being bigger.

The GSP who beat Bisping would certainly be competitive. GSP, who would have potentially had to fight Whitaker, Romero, Adeysana, Pereira… might not have got through all of them as he aged.

He was pretty damn lucky he landed that shot and finished it because Bisping really had taken over the fight.

Gsp came back to add to his legacy, not to be in a position where he would have to fight every 4-6 months, he has already been a reigning, defending champion. Nobody gets to do that twice. Nobody has and nobody ever will. That’s way too much wear and tear.

The guy is 42 and undersized at MW, he’d get wrecked now. His fight against Ping was pure opportunism because he knew Ping was a paper champ and relatively beatable, and even then he didnt have it all that easy.
