GURGEL FACES RETURNING AARON RILEY AT UFC 91

Aaron Rileys the man...been waiting on him to return..hopefully this will be on the main card but doubtful.

I predict that somebody will sustain facial injuries in that fight!

Edit: I'll take Gurgel by decision, but only if he wakes up that day and remembers his years of BJJ training.

gotta go with Riley..

Riley needs a win, as good as he is it has been a long time since I saw him win one.
Hes a damn nice guy though, always helpful in the gym, willing to teach you or show you something. No attitude, no showboating.

Two guys with more heart and grit than sense at times.

gurgel fighting bores me.

Gurgel is anything but boring! I would love to watch this fight.

HND!! 703!!

Bad matchup for Jorge. Hope he's willing to strike it out because I don't see him getting Riley down. He better have his knees back and his explosion. He never had the speed to catch Riley like Spencer did. I think they're trying to get Jorge out of the UFC in spectacular KO fashion, which sucks because I like Jorge alot, he is a good fighter, tough guy who never seems to have the right strategy or isn't able to be fully physically ready to fight.

The title should be, "Gurgel Faces Retirement After Aaron Riley UFC 91".

great fight, both will stand and trade.

Anyone else would have been let go long ago.

Elvis went 1-6, and I think Lytle is like 7-9. The days of record mattering more than anything else for getting a shot in the UFC have been over for a long time. Zuffa signs whoever they want to fight, like it or not. That's just how it is now.

Is this now the main event for UFC 91?

frontrowbrian - Lytle is actually an entertaining fighter. Gurgel not so much.

Really? Lytle has had his share of dull fights, too. Do you think Serra vs. Gurgel would have been as dry and unwatchable as Serra vs. Lytle was?

Both guys have had good and bad performances. Gurgel doesn't have the worst UFC record by a long shot, so I'm not sure why you think he doesn't deserve to be there other than because you don't like him. That's fine, but don't distort the facts. ;)

gurgel still in the ufc?

There are 20 better guys at LW than Gurgel, i dont understand why they keep him around. He's not popular or exciting.

Lytle is 100x's the fighter Gurgel is, sorry but that's the cold hard truth. Plus Lytle actually fights decent competition.

Aldo Nova - Lytle is 100x's the fighter Gurgel is, sorry but that's the cold hard truth. Plus Lytle actually fights decent competition.

Lytle may have fought better competition at the end of the day, but he's actually something like 4-8 in the UFC (I counted WEC fights accidentally before), and I think his UFC wins are at the level of Gurgel's opponents.

I do think Lytle is definitely a better fighter overall, but he stays in the UFC for reasons other than his record. Gurgel's last fight with Cole Miller was exciting and I personally don't mind seeing him get another shot, especially since the UFC often signs fighters despite their win-loss ratio these days. Until Gurgel's record is actually one of the worst in the UFC, how can it be a reason for him to be given the boot?

I understand that some people dislike Jorge because of his boneheaded fighting style, but I don't think he's lost badly or frequently enough to be given the boot from the UFC yet relative to a lot of other fighters on their cards. I think a lot of people feel like he's only there due to his connection to Franklin, but I don't know if I would call that the only reason until he loses and gets brought back another time or two. JMO.

Good to see Riley back.

Riley trains in Northern Virginia, at One Spirit.
