It really is the best. And it gives you longevity too. A guard that can be played as you get older with shittier knees and decreased flexibility.
Butterfly is a great option too, but I don’t have great luck with it
Agreed I am long in the tooth and Z Guard 1/2 Guard and transitions with deep still work at the older age. The deep would be dumb for self defense but good for sport
Werdum, Big Nog, Big Foot are three that come to mind that have pulled off deep half sweeps in mma. As long as you aren’t static and letting your opponent get their base, it’s good.
