Headed back to Congo, women & children beheaded...

I'm finally FULLY recovered from Malaria, Typhoid, and black water fever... So, I'm leaving Uganda on Friday for my home sweet home, Congo. I seriously love the people. The good people are the best people I've ever met (and the bad are the worst... And I try not to meet them, here is why).

This is south of where I'll be with my Pygmy family in the forest in Beni, Congo... Yesterday, over 20 people were hacked up by machetes. Some of the women and children were raped before hand and then beheaded.

BBC reports "The attacks took place near the town of Beni, which is about 250km (150 miles) north of Goma.
The youngest victim is thought to have been only a few months old," the UN Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (Monusco) said.
Three girls appear to have been raped and then beheaded. A child's dismembered body is said to have been found in a tree, in the village of Musuku, the statement said."

Anyways... For those following my journey, I'm asking for prayers and positive thoughts as I head back. Not for me, but this country. This is only one of the many things going on in Eastern Congo... The biggest rebel group we thought came to peace terms with the government has really been regrouping, recruiting, and reloading in neighboring Uganda and Rwanda. As hopeless as a situation as it seems to an OUTSIDER, I see people with MORE than just a glimmer of hope in their eyes. I see people filled with such an awesome spirit, their love is contagious, and they BELIEVE in a better tomorrow.

We are maybe going to "up" our goal of 12 water wells to 24! Taking clean water where it has NEVER been before! 12 for the former slave tribes of Pygmies, 12 for the former 12 slavemasters. Address and bless. Address the crazy need of the region, bless both sides. The "good" and the "bad." Game-changing, LIFE-SAVER!

Since I've been gone my team has plugged away at follow ups and they have secured 247 acres (100 acres) of land that is now PYGMY LAND! They had been kicked off this land, it was stolen from them, then they were enslaved, now peaceful negotiations have led to us gaining the land, and hopefully 100+ pygmies moved onto the land.

And we are building them 30+ earth bag homes that we may make look like a hobbit house from "The Shire." We are also teaching them the skills to replicate both the water well drilling system (water4.org) and the home building (cal-earth.org)

Anyways... Random updates!

Here are two great links to catch up on what is going on in my neck of the woods...

WTF is wrong with the people over there.  They are killing their own people and fucking raping and beheading them?  Jesus man.

It's mind blowing, the savagery of humans is a stark reminder we are all animals. Phone Post 3.0

What's wrong???

Too much to describe my friend. I met someone that was in a mine staring at a SEVEN METER THICK layer of straight up gold... Two people died in that mine the day I slept next to it on the road, stuck in the mud, out of gas, and battery dead. The guys pay was maybe 2 dollars a day if he was lucky, normally one dollar, sometimes he just got fed. Proof shows over 350 MILLION dollars is illegally smuggled into just Uganda every year. Congo SHOULD be the richest country on the planet, but corruption, greed, and cold-heartedness turns men into animals. Mainly, the influence that wrecked this country came from the outside... That is the truth. They sit on oil, gas, diamonds, gold, silver, copper, tin, titanium, coltan, etc. They have 27 TRILLION dollars of natural resources... But they are the POOREST country on the planet. I heard the president spent over 1 million dollars on clothes he never wore more than once... This AND it's a failed state... The "government soldiers" are raping and killing children... 38 or so warring rebel groups control whatever region they are in, to control the resources, OR mainly, to protect it for whatever country is exploiting it's resources. Anyways, just a rant of a few of the things wrong with Congo.

Crazy can be good... As me and my soon to be bestman like to say, "Sometimes you gotta risk it to get the bisquit."

Truth or what?

God bless you for the work you are doing. I am a bit curious as to what you do for security while you're there. This may be a naiive question, but I have wondered.

Justin, I think you are a beacon of strength and symbolise the great potential of humanity. Your efforts and character are greatly appreciated.

Glad to hear you're doing better, Justin.  Stay safe out there.

Pray, cross my fingers (not really), surround myself with good people (for real), try to be compelled by love, the vision, the mission, and not really think about the danger. In my experience, when you've found a life worth dying for, or at least risking, you become fully-alive. You discover purpose. You live with passion. You help people because you love people. It's actually quite a beautiful thing. In trading my comfort zone for a conflict zone... I've found and extreme amount of peace.

good that youre healthy, now you can save the world.

Great job, good luck.

Mr. Wren, let God bless you are this courageous journey you take. I pray for peaceful interactions and your safety.

Someone asked for pic updates... Here is one, and I'm getting ready for this same wild&crazy muddy jungle drive again!

Here is my mudface at 2am after only pushing our vehicle out of the mud 5-6 times of the 12+ times then my phone died. 25 hours driving to go only 175km's. #CongoHasTheWorldsWorst"roads" #ButiLoveIt

Glad to hear you're fully recovered. Stay safe friend and keep us updated. My prayers are with you and your people.

Justin, you are the man. Remember getting a picture with you after a Trevor Wittman seminar at RSU when you came through with Demico. Nicest guy ever. Doesnt shock me that you are doing this. Youre bat shit crazy, and a much better man than I. Good luck to you my man, safe travels, and report back safely as soon as you can. God speed. Phone Post

Glad your feeling better, more prayers sent. Phone Post 3.0
