Holly Holm Suffers A Fracture To Her Arm

Some breaking news coming out of the Legacy FC 30 event that was held inside the Route 66 Casino last night that featured one of New Mexico’s most popular combat fighters, Holly Holm capturing the Legacy FC Title in a five round war of attrition against Juliana Werner. From the start of the bout to the emphatic head-kick finish, Holm dominated the Brazilian fighter with a heavy volume of kicks that dug into the leg, body and head of Werner.

One of the significant storylines post-fight was that Holm wasn’t able to put Werner away despite out-classing her throughout the bout and she never seemed to have that extra “oomph” to finish her combinations with that final knockout strike. While some of that has to be attributed to Werner being tough-as-nails and being able to absorb a lot of damage, some news broke this morning that may indicate that there was more to the story.

Apparently, some time in the early rounds, possibly even the very first round, Holm would fracture her arm and the injury would dampen her ability to unleash punches to compliment her kicks for the remainder of the bout. Holm was spotted post-fight being placed into a sling and until now, we were unaware of the severity of the injury.

It is not yet confirmed from an official source when the injury occurred or how it occurred but Holm would fight with the fractured arm for up to four rounds which is likely a reason we saw one of the most kick-heavy performances from Holm in her career. While she has always been a kick-heavy striker, there were moments where Holm seemed to abandon the punches entirely in favor of several different styles of kicks.

Despite the injury, Holm was able to find a home for a devastating head-kick in the fifth round that dropped the tough Werner and Holm was able to finish her off with strikes to capture the first ever Legacy FC Bantamweight Title.

Did this keep Holm from finishing Werner earlier? It is hard to say, but what is known is that Holm fought valiantly with an injury to such an inconvenient area of the body. We want to send Holm our best wishes of a speedy recovery.

wow, if you don't have arms left then win with a kick. How could anyone fight with a broken arm like that for 3-4 rounds? They really should give her 30/30 and just sign her. Amazing considering she fought most of the fight with one arm.

What arm? Phone Post 3.0

Well least we know what her arm will look like after her fight with Ronda. I am a big fan of Holm but she has a long ways to go before challenging Ronda.
