I think Tito just exhibits all the signs of someone with a painkiller addiction, which makes perfect sense with his surgeries and neck issues. I don't blame him for it, but he's certainly allowed it to let him reach his full potential as an unintelligible jackass
I will never have anything bad to say about Tito no matter what.
Know why?
Because I actually met him in person and he bought me my drink after he took a couple pics with me. Talked to me like a person and I thought he was really cool. It was shortly after Pride got bought and Rampage and the others came over. I met him in Vegas in Feb 2006.
yeah he married a whore, but a lot of guys on here have married whores. Whatta you gonna do?
He has had an amazing career and has had many exciting fights and could have many more left. He's also had some very serious injuries and pushed right through.
He's a warrior.
Blah blah myself blah blah neck surgery blah blah peoples champion blah blah neck surgery blah blah neck surgery blah blah I didn't duck Liddell, and did I blah you about my neck surgery and spinal injury?
Neck surgery mate
He was the Champ at one time and no one can take that away.
Honest Tito thread:
I haven't changed my opinion about him since day one:
He was a huge star and great for the promotion.
His mocking of his opponents after the fight(as opposed to before) was exceptionally poor sportsmanship.
He ducked Chuck for as long as he could.
He was one of the best fighters of his era -- can't take that away from him.
But now he expects to be received as "the People's champ"? Who are these people he's to be champ of?
And it's hard to feel bad for a guy when he loses when he's such an insufferable douche when he wins (will take the ban for that, if required).
Tito may have been playing a character to pump sales. In real life he may be a fantastic guy (wouldn't surprise me). But the face he showed fans wasn't one that makes me feel all that bad for him and his 52 Brazilian excuses, nor be moved because he's putting his heart and soul into fighting for me, the fan.
As for his being all about the fighters? Once again, a former icon speaks up for the little guy long after his power to do anything about it has passed (read: after cashing in on that very pay disparity).
He had a great run and deserves to be remembered for some great fights and for his contribution to the sport. That should be enough
favorite LHW of all time.
He was great to fans, very disrespectful to opponents. Now he gets paid back with disrespect
I remember back in the day eeeveryone was on Tito's jock. Then the whole ducking Chuck thing came around and it was crazy...90 percent of the ug just turned on Tito and it's been the same ever since.
Tito was a Champion and is a true Hall of Famer on the Sport imo. I believe if he hadnt of pulled out if the 3rd Chuck fight, he would have Knocked Chuck out. Happy for Chuck, that didnt happen.
Endowedwelter - I don't hate the guy but be honest. High level compared to guys in typical gyms then sure. He beat a much smaller guy in a smaller org so high level compared to say Randy when he finished then no. I was happy to see him beat Bader but he's just tough to watch and listen to. Cracked skull......
I agree about Bader. Bader looks like he should be number one in the world but his fights say otherwise. Not a cut down, I just see loads of potential in Bader seemingly going to waste. Tito is legendary.
There's a couple of things Tito should get more praise over, but mainly from fighters.
!: He was the first big name fighter to "hold out" until he received better pay and he did it intelligently. He waited until there fight that had to be made and the he told Dana "fuck you! Pay me"
2: Making your own brand and marketing to larger retail establishments. Taking MMA apparel out of the niche market.
Without Tito there would be no UFightCheap.
Tito kept the sport alive back in the day as its biggest draw. Alot of the people shitting on him nowadays should remember that.
Hecklah -No sir. Chuck Berry. Tito crushes that M'fer!TFK_BOZY - Tito was a Champion and is a true Hall of Famer on the Sport imo. I believe if he hadnt of pulled out if the 3rd Chuck fight, he would have Knocked Chuck out. Happy for Chuck, that didnt happen.Chuck Liddell?
Chuck Berry? Best takedowns in the business.
Tito was pretty bad-assed, he still is. He's not top tier anymore but thats because time has taken it's toll on him. Look how long the guy has been fighting!! He may not be an A+ fighter anymore, but he's still a B+ or A-, and this is what, 20 years after beginning his career? Keep in mind that was 20 years fighting guys at or near the top, not C level local shows. Fuck, of course it's going to take its toll.
If he had retired while he was on top of his game people wouldn't be talking half the shit about him that they do.
But he's still fighting, and he's not total joke. Bad Assed.
Now, listening to him talk on camera......well, he tried doing the WWF persona thing and he's just not that good at it, but that makes him a bad ACTOR, not a bad fighter.
Give credit where it's due.
As far as the surgeries and injuries being an excuse, well they are, he's had a lot of them, it takes it's toll. It may be annoying to listen to, but how many of you guys have said, "If I was 10-20 years younger I could have done ___" It's true. If Tito's body wasn't so fucked up he would win more fights. If he went around after EVERY fight and said "my opponent sucked" he just won because I had __surgery, yet it gets annoying. I don't think he's ragging his opponents as much as trying to keep himself int he game with promoters. I could be wrong but its a possiblity.
I will always love Tito.
I'd like to see a Tuff with coaches/camps that hate each other and one house for each team. I don't need the coaches to fight each other, in fact I'd want the coaches retired and let them compete through the kids they are coaching.
Tito and Chuck would be perfect for this.
Tito is the only reason i had a blue name on here for a few years. Once the tito bashing started on here and drove him away and the stupid mods did nothing about it, i refuse to ever buy another blue name.ive been to 4live ufcs, 3 of them were because tito was on the card. Now mind you i live in mexico, i have to drive 4 hours to the nearest airport etc etc . Thats why i could care less about dana white anymore. When he publicly talks shit about the dude thT carried the ufc for a while is a slap in the face to the hard working ufc fans like me. I went to the ufc lat week with weidman vs machida. I got comped tix only reason i went.if tito is on the card itsreally t
Only a handful of fighters that get u freakingpumped for a fight beforehand
Tito was just in San Jose this weekend at the Expo.
I picked up a swweet signed 8X10 autographed picture.
I`m still a fan of his.
