Sorry I had no idea what to name this thread but I was just thinking about his fight with Schlemenko and yeah he was definitely bigger than him but Tito seriously over the past 6-7 years has had what, 5 surgeries and was coming off a pretty big neck surgery a couple months before that fight and came out and absolutely dominated that fight.
Just with all the Tito hate that happens these days, dude still has it, maybe not on the highest of levels but a pretty damn high level still at an older age and a pretty beaten and battered body.
Just thought I'd say that he deserves some respect and not all the hate he gets.
Other than his commentary and interviewing skills, those are real bad
I agree. It bums me out when people hammer Tito just because it's the thing to do.
Endowedwelter - And I dont do it because it the thing to do by any means. Also if you give yourself the nickname the peoples champ that's gay, seems like something that "the people" should be doing. Just sayin...His self given nickname does suck I'll give you that
Let me tell you how you feelin right now
I thought tito showed up pretty well when he coached his tuf season - seemed smart and articulate.
My issue with guys like tito these days is you have all these older past prime fighters who ducked out years ago for the most. the only reason they pop back up and say they want to fight is because they either miss the limelight or they need the money. What we see is lackluster performances.
I resent this because I think there are so many young and hungry fighters who deserve shots on these cards. I called it before the BJ Penn fight too - same thing. And the BJ penn nuthuggers are the worst in MMA. They all started crying and acting like little fags, but what I was saying was the truth.
MMA fans arent obligated to placate ego bruised past prime fighters. Most of us are here to see good technical fights and displays of heart and skill.
LetiKraker -After all Vitor is 134 years old
Let me tell you how you feelin right now
A large number of people who shit on Tito weren't watching mma when Tito was winning so it is easier for them to attack him. I think he is just a guy who had a shitty childhood and never had great leadership growing up, this led to some of his antics but if you look at the larger picture, he's a guy who works really hard and kept pushing to get back in shape through non-stop injuries and a turbulent home situation.
What's funny is, when he was on top I consistently rooted against him, but dude just keeps coming back, a grinder to the core and I appreciate the effort and am inspired by it
He didn't dominate shlemenko he caught him in a sub as soon as it hit the ground. Shlemenko was lighting him up on the feet.
Just sayin.
I thought Tito was gonna get a beating....I was in shock he won like that....Props to him...Bellator could benefit from that win.....<br />
Every time Tito loses he comes out with a long list of surgeries and excuses and blames the loss on those. Its hard to respect a fighter than cant admit that his opponent earned the win.
Tito brings it on himself in the way he conducts himself. He is just toooo bad in interviews
If he didnt constantly remind us how injured he was and how tremendous he is for overcoming this and that
He's always so quick to give himself the type of compliments that are best left for other people to say about him. He just comes off douchey
He isnt by any means, hes a great guy and if you ever seen him teach the kids at his school in Huntington Beach or just see the way he taught the guys on tuf, hes a hard working passionate coach
He just comes off bad and it sucks because newer fans will judge him off that instead of his history
Nothing personal against Tito, I respect his never give up attitude. The UFC kinda shit on him for sure. His persona and dominating performances back in the day really helped MMA as a whole. That said, Tito died out with other similar champions like Hughes. Neither one of them really evolved, their striking is basic at best. They dominated with wrestling and cardio.
Hurrakayne - Every time Tito loses he comes out with a long list of surgeries and excuses and blames the loss on those. Its hard to respect a fighter than cant admit that his opponent earned the win. This is alot of what im referring to
Even when he wins, he has to remind us of how only he could have come back from this surgery or that etc
Here's Tito in a nutshell.
Great fighter in the late 90's & early 00's.
Smart enough to know that fighting wouldn't last forever, but not smart enough to figure out how to make the fight money work for him.
Avoided fighting Chuck because he knew that the real money was in being the champ.
Decided to chase the money but picked the absolute worst time to do it (right before the UFC exploded).
As TUF showed would be a great coach, but he apparently needs more money than coaching pays.
Smart enough to get himself into trouble but not smart enough to get himself out of it.
Long story short, a great fighter who may in fact just be his own worst enemy.
he was the man in mma for a bit
but he is still the greatest public speaker in mma EVER
Tito is the reason I started watching the UFC.
Guy had always been about making money.
I will always cheer for FUTA1
Greatest light heavyweight .....of the night
i didnt like tito mainly because of how he ended up winning. sure coleman, randleman, severn, and other wrestlers had to win by gnp since they lacked the skills to sub people left and right. tito had the skills, yet always refused to. sure it was exciting when it was over quickly, but when it was a long fight he was the one that made it boring.
Hurrakayne - Every time Tito loses he comes out with a long list of surgeries and excuses and blames the loss on those. Its hard to respect a fighter than cant admit that his opponent earned the win. While I'm not a fan of excuses it's not like he claims injuries and nothing materializes out of them. The dude is always having fuckin surgeries meaning the injuries hes speaking of are legit in nature and then still has the balls to fight and on a pretty high fuckin level
Never really liked tito mostly cause of his first few fights I seen him in I was a fan of who he fought shamrock (as I used to be a huge wwf fan as a kid) and chuck.. But I did root for him against bader and Forrest for the third time but he just don't know when to shut up lol
