If this ends up happening and Liddell/Jardine is hyped as one of the 'Big' Matches, this could be the worst 'Big' matchup in the last 5 years. By 'Big', i mean the fights that make it in the commercials and banners, and are advertised as being attractions. UFC73 actually had 4 'Big' fights, as all four big ones got on TV commercials. UFC 72 only had two 'Big' fights, the franklin and forrest fights. Etc etc, that's what i mean by 'Big'.
Now, some of the 'big' fights have less talent than chuck brings, but at least it's somewhat even. I don't mind two unproven fighters fighting EACH OTHER, big a mismatch this huge is astounding. Royce/Matt Hughes is another big mismatch, but at least Royce is a legend and there was some intriuge and mystique and stuff. Jardine is a blatant can who has no significant wins, ever, and he is supposed to fight a guy who is coming off of 6 straight title fights???
This fight would be so bad it's unthinkable. Whatever you think of Dana, he's not dumb. I can't believe he would put this fight up there. Jardine is not well liked like Forrest is, not exciting like Alexander, and not respected like some other fighters they could hope to get. Not liked, not exciting, and bad is an awful combination.
Would this be the worst 'Big' UFC fight of the last year? The last 3 years? The last 5?
