How did Bob Sapp beat Ernesto Hoost twice?

shaqitup - crocop made him his bitch.

The truth.. Their is Sapp before Crocop and after Crocop.

Remember CroCop broke his damn eye socket.. Sapps eye also didnt look the same after that match so im not sure that eye today is 100%..

Sapp has enormous strenght that could threat anyone. But he also had a subpar defensive game so to get inside and use his strenght he actually had to be wililng to take a few shots.. After the Crocop fight Bob sapp aint taking no shots ever!!!

The ref was more than a little complicit in both matches too. A lot of clubbing hands to the back of the head were ignored.

Also I think Sapp was training with Frankie Lyles at the time and possibly Sam Greco too (I could be wrong though) so obviously was training with some degree of consistency

Zanzoken - not trying to be disrespectful, but any chance Hoost took a dive?

Not a chance in hell.. Hoost was so mad the referee stopped it.. He was furious...

He was on the mma hour a while back where he pretty much explained it wasn't worth getting injured when he could fight consistently taking little or no damage and continue getting paid Phone Post 3.0

TheBearStare - bob sapp had a huge size and strength advantage. he also actively trained at that time. sapp got paired with hoost immediately. sapp wasnt your typical opponent which made him a big wild card for hoost/nogueira to prepare for. everyone else was able to watch and learn from sapp's first few successes and how to deal with him. that combined with the fact he stopped training was his downfall.

I think this is correct. He got figured out. He had a lot of success early on, when fighters didnt know how to deal with a guy his size.

It's funny remembering how before their fight I was so sure sapp was going to savagely hulk smash nog and everyone else. Phone Post 3.0

MMA Monkey - When he first started fighting, when nobody knew who he was, he fought like his life was on the line, and he was a force of destruction. However, everything changed once he became a huge celebrity in Japan. While appearing on Japanese TV shows and commercials, he just fought to earn his next paycheck while taking the least amount of damage possible. Actually, before that, he continued to take fighting seriously (learning proper striking and submissions), but I think he realized at one point that he didn't want to fight anymore; he had too much money and fame to risk harming his body. However, his fame came from being a fighter, so he had no choice but to continue fighting. So he would just give up, often feigning injury, after taking minimal damage in order to avoid having a long drawn-out war and risk potential injuries. As a fighter, fame was probably the worst thing for him. However, as a person, he seems to enjoy being an entertainer/celebrity much more than a fighter. If you watch his interviews and ignore his "beast" persona, you can tell that he's actually an intelligent guy.
Getting his eye socket broke by Crocop probably stole most of his mojo. Phone Post 3.0
