How far are you willing to drive?

How far are you guys willing to drive in order to compete in Submission Grappling tournies in terms of number of minutes/hours?

I'd be willing to drive up to 3 or 4 hours depending on how early or late the tournament would begin....what about you guys?

Myself and some acquaintances are toying with the idea of holding some open mats at a high school mat room for a team which one of my buddies helps to assistant coach. After a while, we might be interested in holding some Submission grappling tournies, so we'd like to know from how far people would be willing to come.

Serious input on this question would be appreciated.

uhm, Where are you...What area, That makes a difference due to traffic. I would be willing to drive 2-3 hours on highway, but not in a city. Does that make sense???

I hate driving in the city....

4 hours if there was money at the end of the rainbow

Thanks....please keep the replies coming.

I drove 9 hours once. I like road trips. I wouldn't make a habit out of it, though.

I have & will drive 4 hours.

I live very close to the high school (Marist HS) where most of the nj naga tournaments take place so I'm very spoiled in terms of driving time to get to a tourney.

So for me the location factors into how far I will drive. A 2 hour drive down to Wildwood for a weekend at the beach and a grappling tourney? Hell yes! A 2 1/2 hour drive to philadelphia to compete in the middle of a ghetto? Hell no. For the marginal calls it'd come down to how the tourney was run, rules, divisions, etc.

I think 2 hours is my threshold and it needs to have something going for it. I know there are plenty of committed grapplers who regularly drive much farther, but, as I said, I'm spoiled.

3 hours
