I think Hardy would fatigue before GSP using your strategy
i think the odds tell the real, true story here.
GSP -800
Hardy +500
yikes!
and someone said 50/50?
wanna bet 400 bucks on that since it's straight odds? i'll take that bet.
hardy did very good against swick. and swick is hell of a striker. but, gsp puts on a pace even sean sherk couldn't handle. or matt hughes. and these guys are wrestlers with alot of cardio. probably better than hardys,
thiago alves, was probably the best striker gsp ever faced. and best striker middleweight division has seen. and gsp set the pace for him. and burnt him out. his power didn't mean jackshit after first round. so, i see hardy winning first couple minutes. thats his chance. after that, it is all gsp.
and someone is gonna lose shit load of money, if hardy kos gsp.
SecondBase - Hardy needs to swing for the fences...only shot he has imo.
+1
LOL at Dan holding GSP against the fence.
^ I agree with that being another effective strategy for Hardy. However, like I stated earlier in the thread, it's more risky than my strategy.
In my opinion.
The only clinch work that Hardy should use is a plum if he goes over unders with GSP Georges will use that pattened knee pick he hits on everyone. granted Hardy does have length in this fight. I feel like he should use some low kicks/body kicks to try n set up his hands and if he gets taken down hold on for dear life. That being said i see Georges using the same sort of stragey hes been employing lately. Takedown to GNP when he starts to wear out Hardy then open up on the feet some. Thats if he doesnt submit him first im really not confident in Hardy's ground game im pretty sure hes a purple belt not that that means much but Penn and Serra both had a hell of a time with GSP on top so Hardys in for a long night.
I love that Hardy seems to think he's got magic hands - one touch death.
It's LOL'd around town now for a month as the hype machine has turned up its gears. And the best part is that he's still trying to get it out there, that no matter how much of an underdog he is, he's still one that one punch lottery ticket.
" I realize he won't be ready to apply such a strategy by Saturday but if he had been training for this gameplan since the beginning of his camp with the appropriate said fighters then I believe he would be much more equipped to beat GSP" Yes, 8 weeks of greco training should be enough time to be a world class greco specialist. He should beat gsp for the title then go for gold in the next Olypmics. The only issue is if that falls at the same time as the Mundials or Abu Daubi [after all he did spent 2 weeks at Renzo's].

...OR ELSE!!!

This. He cannot hold back, or hesitate. If he does, GSP will right away take him down and begin wearing him out with shots. Even if he gets up, it will happen again.
He needs to have the mind set of kill kill kill and just go for it.
Hardy swinging for the fences = him getting taken down even easier than GSP normally takes guys that are way better wrestlers than Hardy down

GSP whenever he wants via whatever he wants. Here's why:
Im glad that GIF of him tossing Hughes got posted, that fight is what I thought of immediately when I read the OP. GSP's wrestling is more than just double legs.
I don't see any way that Hardy is able to control GSP in the clinch.
I think the key is the Liddell model. Liddell beat alot of wrestlers. If you are going to get taken down, you need to be REALLY good at getting back up again by the cage. If you are confident that you can get back up, then you are free to throw knees and liver kicks that are in the line of a shot.
