How much of a chance are you giving Poirier?

He’s talking retirement, his grappling is pretty bad. He does have a punchers chance, but he’s also coming into a fight on short notice against a monster and he’s 35.

Id say 10% chance of getting it done.

Id say 10% is about right but the first Volk fight gave me some hope. Would go insane if Dustin got it done!!

Bro killing me with this shit

He short notice tho just coming off Ramadan

He should have fought Charles before Ramadan then at 299.

I don’t get why Dana panders to “Them” (Those People) and let’s them cherry pick opponents.
He hasn’t defended the belt against any deserved fighter yet. (Volk maybe in the first fight and Islam lost that

And Volk could fight one class below his usual weight class(is he even cut weight?), Islam could fight at WW and he needs to die every time to make weight lol

Volk is good but beating such smaller opponent should be a shame not an achievement…
And he lost the first fight lol

Again you tards blame Islam for Charles pulling out of the fight and him fighting volk the 2nd time.

About a 15% chance.

Dustin is one of the most successful and exciting LW’s to ever compete in the UFC but fights are about timing as well as styles and Islam’s time is now and he has the style to handle Dustin.

Honestely as far as big LW fights and big quasi-LW fights go… Conor vs Chandler is a way more interesting June fight because Conor is a star and its his giant return vs a hardcore fan’s star in Chandler and its on paper a lot closer fights.

Close fights are the interesting thing about high level MMA fights.

Makhachev is a 6-1 favorite at the books and UFC don’t make a habit out of booking those types of title fights because they know closer fights drive demand among the hardcore base.

Dustin was in the right place and right time to get the shot because Gaethje lost, Max is dropping back down and Tsarukyan won but turned the fight down.

Basically Dustin was the 5th choice for the title shot after Gaethje, Charles, Max and Tsarukyan but the stars aligned so it worked out for him.

It’s short notice for Dustin because he didn’t really have a real camp. Good luck training for a guy like Islam and only a handful of weeks.

Islam said he had a good idea he was fighting Dustin next

Didnt realize the fight was coming up this weekend. Thats not even 3 months turn around and assuming the cut is still hard for Dustin even though he has never not made it to my recollection. Why did the fight have to be on this card? I guess Dustin is taking the opportunity so cant blame him.

What i am wondering if he was less concerned about going to the ground with BSD thus spending more time and giving up position. We all know he cant do that vs Islam. But will he able to fight more strategically to stay on his feet?

I think each of BSD’s top times came from Dustin giving up the gillys. That aside, does not strike much confidence that he gave up his back and dominant position as easily as he did. Maybe he took risks he wouldnt vs Islam down there knowing BSD was not on Islam’s level?

Perhaps he should just fight conservatively for the first 2 rounds and focus on TDD and distance. We know Islam’s striking is no joke now so Dustin will still need to be weary of that but from the distance if he is able to keep it, it shouldnt be that concerning maybe.

Also interested to see how the southpaw vs southpaw will impact this fight. Islam has mostly fought ortho guys. Yeah of course it was a long time ago and Islam’s striking is levels above now but Adriano Martins the guy who KO’ed him was southpaw.
