How will Stipe vs Jones go?

I think Stipe is well on the down side of his career, he is a little chinny and his reactions have slowed. With this said he will be the biggest challenge Jones has faced imo. He is bigger, stronger than Jones. He hits hard and won’t be falling on the ground without a battle.
Stipe has a high fight IQ and will come in with a plan.

I still favor Jones because he is more talented, less damaged, and has an even greater fight IQ. His chin is still rock solid and I feel his cardio is better.

I have Jones wining a close fight. He will start of shaky but will kick Stipes legs to Bolivia.

People give jones so much shit for having a couple close fights that went to decision recently… well micioc got knocked out in 2 of his last 4 fights.

Perfect style match up for Jon and most definitely will be his next fight. They wanna push that GOAT status as far and quickly as possible before he gets into legal trouble again.

And what better way than to put him up against a former champion on the decline with no chin that is slow and plodding at this point. Not the first time Jon got a clout fight against a former champion on the decline; thats like half of his wins.

Would like to see him against Pavlovich, but they will keep him from Jon as long as possible. Blaydes would be good, but he has a few fights to win first and i think Jon could just wear him down on the feet.

Brock would be an epic fight too.

Because after a few wars Stipe is on the decline, while Jon is on the juice.

I think Jones beats Stipe, beats Pavlovich next, But loses to Curtis Blaydes

Based on what?

Based on him getting cracked on the chin and never getting KOed or knocked out. He wears damage really well. I’m not saying he would eat a clean right from Pavlovich.

How many times do you think his chin has really been tested?

He has fought a lot of great strikers and has proven his chin to be great. We will see where his chin lands on the Mark Hunt scale

Idk dudeson Pavlovich is a beast and the only other fighter at HW that is most likely matching Jon on the picogram sclae.

I’m taking about it getting tested.

We know Shogun has KO power.
Did Shogun land anything?
Rampage has KO power.
Did he land anything clean?

Machida can crack, and IIRC he landed one good one.

How many times has Jones really been cracked and just walked through it like a Big Nog or Mark Hunt?

It certainly wasn’t tested at HW last night.

I’ve seen people say Jones has an iron chin.
But just fighting good strikers doesn’t mean you have an iron chin if they never land clean.

Evander Holyfield said Foreman hit him the hardest he ever felt.
When asked how Tyson’s power compared, he said he’s sure they both hit very hard, but he couldn’t say how they compared, because he never let Tyson hit him clean.

I see a lot of people say Jones has some all time chin.
My question is always…how do you know?

I agree that his chin hasn’t been tested by a heavy weight yet. At heavy weight even the strongest of Chins can fail if cracked solid.

A 40 year old Stipe who hasn’t fought in 2 years after getting viciously KO’d by Francis?? I’ll go with Jones on that one. Besides, even if Stipe wanted to win I’m sure he’ll enter into a business arrangement where he won’t

Stipe 5 years ago would be a much better fight. Stipe is 40 and coming back from a massive KO. Not a good combo.

Stipe won’t throw a fight, but I don’t think his heart is in fighting.

He became a full time fireman for the benefits and security. I know he will train hard for this fight but I feel he has one foot in the retirement door.

I don’t think he should keep fighting. While Jones won’t damage his brain badly like Gane, Pavlovich or Blaydes would, Jones migjt fuck his knee up with those oblique kicks. A fireman with a fucked up knee isn’t a good thing

Jones could damage his brain if he gets him down late in the fight and starts raining elbows. Jones has some of the nastiest elbows I have ever seen on the ground

God…Jon steam rolls him.

I believe Jones feels he can beat him. Jones has a high fight IQ and is scripting his legacy these days. This is smart imo
