I'm surprised that he actually admits one of the main reasons he's fighting GSP is because of the fact GSP has only 5 weeks to prepare....doesn't that show a lack of confidence.
Shows he's honest. But yeah, surprising.
Not really, I think it actually shows intelligence. Hughes didn't say "the only way I could beat him is on short notice", he simply stated that it was smart to take the fight on shorter notice knowing GSP's training regimen, and I agree. I'm no Hughes fan, but on this one, I think he's actually being intelligent.
yes he just said The only way I can beat him is like this, then it will be great if gsp knocks his ass out again.
He also said he could of sat around til spring, he could of picked anybody he wanted to fight...he wanted to fight GSP
Very smart move by Hughes imo.
It shows a lack of confidence about as much as keeping a fight standing against a ground fighter or taking it down against a striker does. In other words, not at all. You look for every advantage you can get.
It doesn't matter. He's still going to get knocked out.
No he won't. If Georges wins this one, it will be by decision.
I think Hughes takes it, just have a gut feeling on it.
i want hughes to win so we can see that Serra fight we were supposed too.
Hughes is going to get beat up on his feet, taken down and put on his back, and lose to a ref stoppage.
Samoa.
thats why i like hughes, he doesnt talk trash, just tells it like he sees it.
Whats the point of beating an opponent if they're not at their very best?
Hughes has a really fucked up character.
"Whats the point of beating an opponent if they're not at their very best?"
---------------
It's extremely rare that you'll ever have two opponents at this level facing each other at "their very best". Someone will always have some injury, ache, etc. Even if that injury won't affect their performance, it likely has affected their ability to train properly. Then you have stuff going on in their personal life. Marriage problems. Girlfriend problems. Relatives dying. etc. etc. The list goes on forever.
Only way GSP can lose, if GSP defeats himself. Sounds cliche but if you look at Hughes, he's ALWAYS the same fighter. Same game plan, same mental status. He is a constant.
atleast he was honest
GSP has 5 rounds to work his magic and KO him. C'mon George!
this fight will look a lot like the 2nd fight.. Hughes is old school.. a wreslter that punches IMO.. I can't wait for him to be gone that match with Lytle was terrible he won't look good or be exciting ever again
Hughes limited abilities will be exposed again
hughes is a LEGEND without a doubt, but he's getting old and the game has passed him by. GSP will smoke him again.
