I can see a potential argument for it since HW is not as stacked as the rest of division. But who am I kidding? We all know he is just going to get taken down and mauled like Bigfoot was. I know he has been working hard on his TDD, sub-defense, and overall ground game but I don’t think it’s enough.
Would you guys be more inclined to see Hunt on a title shot fight if JDS still had belt?
I don’t know. Even if Hunt was somehow able to beat JDS, I feel like he is going to lose via decision or submission against guys like Bigfoot, Werdum, Big Nog,Cain.
I feel kind of same way towards Nick Diaz/GSP fight. I agree that it draws a lot of casual fans but even if Diaz wins by some miracle, we know Diaz has no footwork and his wrestling sucks so he is just going to lose points on those aspects alone against future challengers. And I’m talking about top UFC fighters so they can take advantage of it either on wrestling/top control and/or footwork. I don’t think his guard game is going to work against elite fighters at UFC level.
Anderson is obvious exception.
But my point is this-if a fighter has a glaring weakness but somehow able to get a title shot or even a title itself, I can’t get psyched 100% about that fighter because I just think about what’s going to happen in the future.
As a big Hunt fan, I would love to see him fight JDS or Alaister. I wouldn't wish Cain on him. Ever. In a million years. Cain will maul him into retirement, and i don't want that.
I'm a huge Mark Hunt fan, he's my favorite heavyweight in the UFC. I think his best shot at winning the title is to pick up a knock out over Struve (which I think will happen in the first round) and then pick up one more solid win. Hope that in that span, JDS gets a rubber match and beats Cain for the title. Hunt would have a legitimate shot at knocking out JDS. I think that Cain would destroy Mark even though his takedown defense has improved significantly.

Yeah but even if JDS gets the title back and, have JDS vs Hunt,and wins..then…what? How is he going to do against Bigfoot,Big Nog,Werdum as challengers? And who’s to say JDS isn’t going for take down?
