TS has to think. The entire card is likely going to air in Japan so it doesn't matter who is on prelims and in the states the people are going to want to see the best fighters(ie who is on the main card outside of Okami).
remember Japanese love Japanese fighters AND foreign fighters. Also, i dont think UFC expects a PRIDE like turnout and viewership, so instead of stacking the card with all Japanese fighters they also wanna appeal to American viewership.

Frobenius - Try being in the UK, no one gets shafted as much as we do in terms of big name fighters. A doped up leben was our MAIN EVENT. This card has Okami on the prelims.

This isn't going to air on standard TV in Japan. It will be a PPV. In Japan the shows that reach any sort of audience are on basic cable.
HOWtasteMYbigPP - Only one Japanese fighter on the entire main card. When the UFC went to Rio 11 of the 12 fights had a Brazilian in it, all of the main card fights had someone from Brazil, and 3 of the fights were Brazilian vs. Brazilian

More exciting to me. I know the fighters will all bring it and there will not be any wrestle-humping or rapid shadow-boxing. I am REALLY hoping it is in a ring and not under unified rules too.
Plus, crazy PRIDE announcer will let 'er rip like the good ol' days of soccer kicks and no ped testing lol

Akiyama on the main card guarantees it will be huge in Japan, so wisely the lineup is designed to sell PPVs back here in N.America. Agreed it's a great card overall.

That card is fucking bully.
It's because who's the bigger audience....the packed arena? Or the hundreds of thousands of ppv buyers around the world. That's what matters. The Japanese will get to support their own on the prelims and by the time the main card starts it'll be the rest of the worlds turn. Nothing against the Japanese, but it would be hard to sell a Japanese-heavy main card given their wouldn't be many fighters who are top 10 in their class.

UFC can promote the main card in North America.
Total Sports Asia (or whatever that promotion company is) can promote the undercard and the Japanese fighters in Japan.

Really I guess Hioki/Bart could be on the main card, Okami as well and maybe Gomi/G Sot is main card material for a FIght night but probably not this PPV.
Hunt/Kongo could be replaced with HIoki, Okami or Gomi but it wont be.
Okami is coming off a loss and Gomi shouldnt be on the main card, Hioki/Bart has the most legit claim to be on the main card but it wont be.
Doesnt matter though, they are all on the card and its a great looking card.
I know people say its a vanity show and they dont care about the market but I'm not sure I'm buying that. They put on a great card, if the fans in japan dont respond to it or care about it the UFC can atleast say they went into the market which isnt doing well right now and found out if they can build in the market or not.
If they dont care about it then the UFC will move on to other markets who would kill to have cards like this.
I'm sure Ireland would kill for this card, Australia would take it and the UK would love to have a card like this.
If the Japanese dont want it then oh well.
I mean Okami, Hioki, Bart, Tim B, Kid, Gomi, G Sot, Garcia all on an undercard, any other country, any state in the US would love that card. Page, great LW world title fight, Bader, Akiyama, SHields, Pettis and Lauzon.
Noone talking about the fact the main card starts at 10am in Japan? I am sure the prelims will happen after the main card as there is no way people are going to the Saitama Super Arena at 7am.
