I have travelled a very little without a passport. Turkey and Greece are in the EU, but they may be checking a lot of passports anyway.
Def best to have someone courrier your passport to the hotel. At the very least, call the embassy and explain situation.
I would not try to cross the border without a passport.
don't cross the border!!! they may think you are a black african tryin to come illegally in europe and you may finish in some camp trying to explain the situation for weeks
