I think Chimiev will headline 1/20/2021 card

UFC has added an event the Wednesday between the Holloway and Conor cards.

I assume thats why UFC is not keeping Chimaev on the 12/19 card vs someone else. They will headline the 1/20 card with Chimaev vs Edwards. That is my guess. If Edwards can't get cleared in time they will find another fighter so Chimaev can still headline the card.

The 12/19 card is still a great Fight Night and the Pettis fight has been added to it as well.

Hope your right bro, can't wait to see chimaev fight again.  Guy is an absolute beast.

After COVID-19 cancelled their first scheduled meeting at UFC Vegas 17, UFC President Dana White plans to rebook Leon Edwards and Khamzat Chimaev for a winter event in Abu Dhabi.

An event set for Jan. 20 is targeted to host the pivotal welterweight matchup, White told TSN. The Fight Island event is part of a series that’s planned to take place on Yas Island, though the UFC has not made official the locations for its early 2021 event schedule.

Edwards, who’s on an eight-fight winning streak, was forced to withdraw from the Dec. 19 bout with Chimaev due to a positive COVID-19 test after Chimaev was reportedly stricken with the same ailment but not ruled out of competition.

Edwards campaigned aggressively for a title fight after beating ex-lightweight champ Rafael dos Anjos at welterweight, and he was set to take on ex-welterweight champ Tyron Woodley when the COVID-19 pandemic struck. Unable to come to terms on his next fight, Edwards was removed from the UFC rankings and subsequently agreed to take on Chimaev, one of the most heavily hyped fighters in the promotion’s recent history.

Chimaev, who hails from Chechnya but was trained in Sweden at Allstar Training Center, has beaten three straight opponents in three months, including two in back-to-back weeks. After a first-round knockout of veteran Gerald Meerschaert, he was earmarked for a headlining fight against a top-ranked opponent. Initially, Demian Maia was pitched, but Edwards wound up taking the fight.

Nice edit.

What does that mean?

What did I edit?

I can't remember what I changed in the original post eight days ago but I think I just fixed a spelling mistake or added that the Pettis fight was added to the Fight Night, who knows....

That being said you said "doubtful" after I already made whatever change was made to the OP (that was slight anyway).

All I said was I thought Chimaev Edwards or Chimaev vs someone was gonna happen on 1/20. To that you said "doubtful".

You can say "nice edit" but you replied to the post that is there now and did it after whatever minor change happend.

You were just wrong. Has nothing to do wih an edit.

Still not many fights announced the Chimaev card.

I don't love either the Holloway card or the Conor card but between the three cards over eight days there should be some good fights besides the headliners.

I'd love to see Chandler vs Gaethje added to that Conor card. Dana is on record as saying its possible and he said you can't not have a backup plan for the Conor fight because its just too big. I'm sure he is doing his best to get Chandler vs Gaethje done for that one.

MMA Junkie is showing Gastelum v Heinisch, Brown v Condit, and Munhoz v Rivera on the 1/30 card

I suppose they could throw Chandler vs Gaetje on top as opposed to 1/23 ppv co-main, still serve as contingency plans A, B, C.

Forgot about that card. Yeah it has no announced main event so guess we got to wait and see.

Tapology has some more fights listed:

UFC Fight Night Quick Card

top two fights are decent one is almost a throw back fight with two veterans

the rest is meh, but sometimes they are the best cards
