I don't think the Tate-Zingano stoppage was that bad. Miesha was conscious but was doing nothing in terms of defending.
I think I realized this, umm, the first and every time I've seen woman fight.
I've been saying it for years. Women are much more brutal to fight than men. I have had women try to do all kinds of f'ed up shite in a fight. Just plain dirty lol hair pulling included. And yes we always had more to prove. Why wouldn't we when to start we were told we didn't belong in the sport in any facet including just pure grappling.....
The irony here is that the men's divisions aren't exactly filled with golden gloves or olympic boxing champs either. Hell, half of the UFC is wrestlers that learned to throw an overhand right a year ago.
Kinda nice watching fighters go for broke.
I also find the faster paced groundwork and overly superior flexibility of the women
I dont think they fight "harder", but no question they can be every bit as good as the guys. The 2 female fights we have seen in ufc had all the intensity a fan could ask for.
So far, the chicks look good.

I think you got it backwards. I think they fight just as hard, not sure if they can get as talented.
In general they DON'T get as talented, I'm pretty sure they CAN, if they try.
Most female fighters are pretty sloppy, of course most males are too, but it seems that a lot of women are kinda given a pass just because guys want to watch them fight.
I'm not saying all, and it's less so today, but 10 years ago if a woman got really good, and a few did, no one would fight them. The talent pool just wasn't there. Ironic, get really, really good as a female and you would never get many fights.
I'm glad it is finally improving.
BTW, I'm not bashing, I was only ever a very sloppy amature fighter. I had fun. Thats all that matters.
If you are a woman who/is was a slopy figther, you still have my respect, really. You got in the ring and tried, and likely did better than me.
Korpiklaani - funny to see people say this, womens mma has been great for years and NOW all of a sudden, just because they are in the ufc they get recognizedThis!
the fact that dana and freinds has bashed females for years and now they love them its kinda pathetic, i hope invicta takes over and keeps growing strong
Reminds me of the apt comparison of how upper level high school wrestling matches have a higher entertainment value than Olympic level wrestling. At a high but not truly elite level you actually have more opportunities at your disposal because a larger variety of moves can still be employed effectively.
Someone also mentioned (lack of) defense, and I believe that adds excitement level too. As a wrestling coach, the offense is what kids want to learn more than the defense aspect, and this is likely no different than any other sport. No one starts boxing with the goal of "I want to have Floyd Mayweather type defense." They start because they want to learn how to knock someone out. In this way WMMA is in a similar place that mma was early on: lots of offense with little regard to defense.
By the way, I am in no way insulting the wmma athletes, but that is the place their sport is right now. As a fan I hope it never changes and I love the wild west brawls and the go for broke spirit, but I don't think that they fight any harder than the men do.
Also less worried about getting cut, remember and these couple of fights in the UFC have been extremely important for the women fighting. Liz got Ronda's back that was pretty crazy.
GrappleGirl, my hat is off to you as a pioneer.
They fight with emotion. You can tell when they get hit they get angry lol
Skill matters a lot. Lots of tough-man battles are toe to toe wars because the competitors have no defense and don't know anything better than to slug it out.
With high levels of skill come choices. True, some fighters at the top remain in kamikaze mode forever, god bless them. Most others start to fight more cautiously once they acquire choices as to how to approach a fight, because this is the option that is most likely to give them a career instead of a bushido-like hobby or means of personal expression.

Thank you Dirk!! IDK but I hate to see women given a pass on skills. There is no reason that you can't be skilled as a female. I tell you most of th bigger name old school females could bang & had grappling skills!!

Bushido was the only reason to fight in my time. :-)
Just to be clear, I do think the reasons given by the OP are part of the picture. Skill is a factor too though.
I have to say, I've rarely not been entertained by a girl fight. Meisha-Cat was awesome. Hopefully the next TUF helps build up the division so it isn't all about Ronda and Cyborg. I predict good things for WMMA.
