Actually you can wear whatever you want, claim to trane whatever you want, and mispronounce fighters names if you like. It's called freedom.
Imagine a rule that you could only wear NFL jerseys if you correctly pronounce the name of every player and honestly claim to have played high school football.
We take some of this shit too seriously. Far as I'm concerned you could a nationally ranked Chess player and play badminton on the weekends and sport Affliction to the nightclub. It's a shirt. You buy it, you wear it.
