"IF" Bones Jones Loses, What Will B the Excuses?

Darth BLAF -
role model -  If Shogun loses what will be the excuse. Knee surgery? Year off between fights? Or just that he was highly overrated and fighting a younger stronger faster more athletic better wrestler? <img style="vertical-align: middle" alt="Phone Post" border="0" src="/images/phone/post_tag.png" />

 ^This.

Jon Jones, at this point in his career where Ryan Bader has been his biggest test, should not even be expected and/or favored to win this fight.

Shogun however, if or when he loses, right along with his fans and handlers and tytpical of pretty much every Brazilian fighter on the planet, will have about 20 "excuses" why he lost.

And none of them will have anything to do with the other guy just being better than him that night.

Yet he is favoured to win both with the bookies and predictions

He wasnt allowed to bring the bible in with him and heysus turned his back on him

Didn't pray with a humble heart for the LOSE!

I'm pretty sure I saw a Haitian voodoo priest with a Shogun doll in the crowd . Phone Post

Jones is ranked lower, because he doesn't have as many high ranked wins as Shogun. Shogun also just KOed undefeated Lyoto to take the belt. Thats how rankings work.  Not on who we think is better, ala the Overeem situation right now.I think Jones is probably better, but thats just not how rankings work.

Your argument is like saying that because lower ranked Frankie Edgar came out of nowhere and beat BJ, the number 1 ranked guy at LW at the time (and deservedly so) that BJ was "over rated" all this time, instead of just I don't know... Frankie is a better fighter? So just because a guy coming up might beat the number 1 ranked guy, the number 1 ranked guy is "over rated" ? Do you not see how this logic is retarded in a sport where there are always gonna be better guys coming up and anyone can lose?
Uh... you were saying?

BJ vs. Edgar is a terrible example and an apples vs. oranges type comparison. Penn was destroying people left and right and looked invincible, there was no reason to say he was overrated at the time he lost to Edgar, because he was rightfully ranked #1.

Shogun on the other hand, was 3-2 n his last 5 fights, has been very inconsistent... 2 of his wins out of those 3 were against dinosaurs Mark Coleman and Chuck Liddell! And people thought he had a chance against a guy that had been fucking manhandling world class wreslters? Sure, a KO over Machida is nice, but seriously, he was overrated.

I said in numerous threads: Shogun was overrated, he would be finished before the 3rd, and it wouldn't even be competitve. My reasoning for saying he was overrated was the fact his recent record was unimpressive (besides the KO over machida), he had a year lay off, and a knee surgery, has always had poor takedown defense,  and people were expecting him to be competitve against a guy who was TROUNCING world-class wrestlers? Overrated indeed.

Eat your crow.

You realize I picked Jones to win right? lol. I was pointing out how you dont understand how rankings work, or what the term "over rated" means. Keep rambling Jesus. I picked the right fighter to win to but I am not trying to rub it in.

"I think Jones is probably better, but thats just not how rankings work." exact quote from my post moran.
