I'm at Gracie Ft Collins waiting for them to open

I asked on the Facebook why you weren't allowed to train. That's crazy blue belts are eager to train with traveling upper belts where I'm from. Phone Post 3.0

RockTheVote - I don't really care if they suck at jiu jitsu. I don't really care of they suck at teaching jiu jitsu. They're online blue belts, so I'd be surprised if they didn't suck at both. I take issue with them inviting people in to check out the quality of instruction, and then getting confrontational. We have a Gracie Academy in town. I posted a thread here that lead to me dropping into a class there. The owner is a fellow brown belt. It was a very friendly welcome I got, and he taught a class and included me, while maintaining his professionalism. I walked away impressed, and also understanding that my Academy and his taught different things. These girls could have done the same thing, but they got defensive. OP left the middle of the conversation out. Maybe he got confrontational, but the girls and their dad invited this on themselves. Phone Post 3.0

That guy clearly has confidence in his abilities as an instructor and practitioner. If you are secure, you have nothing to hide. My instructor is so confident he is always happy when new schools open in the area because he knows if more people are interested in jiujitsu that is good for him. He believes in his abilities so the more passion for jiujitsu, the more students that will ultimately seek him out because of his abilities and teaching style.

I'm going to blame the father on this one though considering I feel they are too young to be help fully responsible for their attitude. If they became overly arrogant on their, it is on the father to check that. It seems more likely that the father fed into it.

Bingo. Kind of. It's more that I like to give the benefit of the doubt and try to see things from the perspective of others instead reacting with close minded thinking that stifles any other viewpoint.

I'll give these little girls the benefit of the doubt that they simply have made a series of bad choices without any improper intentions. However, I will not accept the watered down Brazilian Jiu Jitsu that has been accepted by some who perceive this as an acceptable form of training.

At our academy we do have a Gracie blue belt, he's pretty good, and has been training martial arts, like these girls, for many years. I can tell you with certainty I do not want to learn from him, but will train with him as he is a good partner. I want to learn from the black belt who has dedicated 25 years of his life to the art.

15-20 years ago, what these girls are doing would have been the norm. As far as a blue belt teaching, with the exception of wearing the voodoo black belts in some martial art from a certified pedofile. They chose to associate with him by continuing to wear his bullshit belts while training BJJ. Phone Post 3.0

The issue is the same in all these cases. The people don't want to be a student under someone. They want to be the respected authority to captain the ship.

There's a fucking black belt in their town. They should be under them.

Same shit with ari. A black belt in his town but he's got to run his own show. He finds an angle with which he can create niche: no gi bjj Phone Post 3.0

The reality is that many of us are spoiled by the plethora of knowledge that surrounds us and are admonished by the uneducated that may be fooled by a snake oil salesmen or a teenage girl for fucks sake. Phone Post 3.0

Good point about the dad. Phone Post 3.0

Which I appreciate. Otherwise it turns into a bunch of Republicans watching Fox News. Reading a bunch of "me, too" gets boring and leads to zero self reflection.

Of course, he is wrong on this issue Phone Post 3.0

But what if I don't want to represent that black belt or learn from that belt or like his/her teaching styles, character, the way he runs classes, his emphasis, etc.?

They don't know what they want. How the fk would you if all you've ever done was online classes? Phone Post 3.0

Hey Evilgumby, where do you train at? I'm at Arizona Combat sport swing on by sometime, we love new experienced folks stopping by.

I'm about 40 miles away. I would go but as a newbie white belt I would remain quiet either way. Phone Post 3.0

What's the point of confronting Rener. It has been told to him a million different ways that he is watering down the art to kata bjj. He chooses not to hear it. One more voice from someone he doesn't respect won't change shit Phone Post 3.0

Bingo. If he doesn't respect his own grandfather, do you think he gives a shit about you? The Torrance boys are about MONEY.

I don't get the people that are against those that are critical of Ryron and Rener by saying that it is just hating on them for making money. I really don't understand why they need to give the online belts. MginAction, Bjj Library, Keenan Online, etc all offer online training in a way that make guys money without creating any problems for the community at large. Is it that much more lucrative to offer those fake belts to people?

Well, I'm reserving my judgment until black belt. Some people might think that's too late to intervene, but that's the belt that really opens up the door for criticism in my opinion. I have yet to meet a black belt that was awarded by Ryron or Rener, but if and when I do I'll be shocked if that person doesn't have excellent jiu-jitsu.
