Any of the top three in the division would've lit up that fat Frank Mir. Arlovski was exhausted and it wasn't even a five-rounder. So in short, I'm happy he got this victory but at the same time, I'm not getting too emotionally invested in him as a fan. Also, I still don't understand why Mir came in 25-30 pounds overweight.
A second fight vs Fedor sounds appealing to me.
He did look a little underwhelming against Mir. I was expecting/wanting a bang fest. He wasn't happy about his performance either.
Isn't that what Mir weighs these days? He was 262 against Duffee and 261 against Bigfoot.
Mir has been around that weight for while.
You may call it "fat" if you want. The rest of us know it's a hot dad bod.
On periscope Mir said hes around 275-280 atm. So if he really was that light in his previous fights that's a bit worrying lol
Who'd have thought Werdum would've been champion?
OP is correct.
I think he still could.... He said he took mir lightly and just expected to blast him out in the first round. If he was motivated and took it more serious he could have looked as great as he did in the browne fight. That arlovski beats werdum imo
ttt both are done IMO
thay should do AA vs Hunt (a fight we've never seen) and let Fedor have his Bigfoot rematch!
cawsie77 - Who'd have thought Werdum would've been champion?People that saw him dominate opponent after opponent. Those fights weren't even close and Werdum's cardio held up over 5 rounds against Travis.

People make too much of Mir's weight. Most heavys dont need to cut weight as long as they train enough cardio. I know Frank had had cardio issues in the past but anyone will gas from being hit too much.

no one...i think a lot of people expected him to have to fight JDS again to get to the title lol. not until maybe after the fedor fight did people really start giving him a shot.
he was a perennial top 10 fighter for many years until that point.
No one gave arlovski a shot after brett rogers and fedor and sergei melted him either.
difference is since then werdum has sub'd, KO'd or thoroughly dominated everyone he has fought...arlovski has won decisions to C level fighters and looked bad. his recent wins have been refreshing but werdum hasnt had nearly the downturn that arlovski had.
I wanna see him fight Fedor (if that happens lol) then possibly Overeem if he loses, or Jds if he wins.
don't think it's breaking news that Arlovski isn't going to beat Werdum, Cain, JDS, Stipe, etc.
I think a fight with jds or mark hunt would would be best for aa
Didn't see the fights... Was he out of shape badly? Hesitant, low output?
Everyone has bad fights.
I think AA has earnt a shot at the belt.
Last 3 wins are Bigfoot, Browne and Mir. Some impressive wins, 2 by first round ko.
I'm in the minority but I see him having a chance against Werdum. If he can keep it on the feet, Arlovski is capable of finishing anyone if he is switched on.
This is a guy that people were begging for him to retire after the Kharitanov loss. He had suffered some horrible ko losses and was all but done.
For him to go on a streak, return to the UFC, knock out two top 5 guys is beyond extraordinary. This rematch between Werdum needs to happen.
It's a fantastic story and whether you liked the Mir performance or not, he's earned a shot.
Who has a longer win streak than AA in HW at the moment?
Who has a win against the current champ?
Lawler, Hunt are amazing comeback stories but I would debate that Arlovski has come back from further in the hole than both those guys and the UFC should give this guy one last shot.
