I was a fan of his before, I've watched that fight a ton of times, and won't get tired of watching it. Both guys put it out there, plus... Wanderlei came out to Sandstorm, he's automatically cool.

Pride had a different mentality. If you put on a good show we will have
you back win or lose. UFC is more have a good fight but for good sake
don't lose or get knocked the fuck out. or we won't have you back. With
that mind set it produces fights like arlovski-sylvia.

Great match-up and subsequent fight, but how would this have been possible with Rampage as the undisputed champ?

Plenty of guys like Irvin, Cote, Baroni, Gurgel, Riggs, Diaz, even Randy were kept around after many losses. Randy has gotten title shots immediately after three different losses, in fact.
One thing that was kind of weird was how Wand said the guys in the UFC are "so big". He weighed 226 to fight Crocop, for christ's sake! Crocop was 220, Fujita was 240, Hunt was 280, Arona's as big as anyone, Alistair is probably the biggest LHW in the sport -- how is he surprised at the size of UFC guys?
Height? Liddell was a lot taller comapred to Silva than I would've even thought.
That was the problem I saw going into the fight, Chuck was taller and had such a big reach advantage.
Counter Puncher+2 inch reach advantage+Height= problems for a smaller guy who likes to move foward and throw down :(
