Interesting that the GOAT HW is smaller than the GOAT LHW

Jones is 6’4. He has always had to cut to 205 lbs to compete at LHW. Prior to the 2nd Gus fight Jones weighed 222.5 on fight night.

Fedor is 6’0. Fedor always weighed in at between 225 lbs and 236 lbs from like eight old fights I looked at. Someone probably knows if he ever weighed over 240 lbs for a weigh-in but I didn’t look at his entire weigh-in history.

At any rate, Jones has now moved to HW and I’m sure he will be competing at around 240 lbs. HW Jones will carry a lot more muscle and a little more fat than LHW Jones.

It is pretty interesting though that the GOAT HW is actually a smaller HW than the GOAT LHW who is now moving up to HW.

Fedor gave up hundreds and hundreds of lbs on fight night in his career. Jones has yet to give up a single lb.

Stipe is 6’4 as well and usually comes in between 235-245 lbs while Gane weighted 247 lbs for his last fight.

If Jones retires after those two fights its possible Jones will still have not given up more than 5 or 10 lbs in his entire career.

Blaydes weighs in around 260 lbs and there is a lot more reward in beating the name Stipe with less risk there for Jones so its no wonder Jones wants that fight next instead of Blaydes. Its also obvious Stipe wants another title shot after not having won in 2 1/2 years without having to go through Blaydes to get it.

Blaydes is out there competing and winning and is 5-1 since the start of 2020 and on a three fight win streak. Stipe is 1-1 since the start of 2020 and has not won a fight in 2 1/2 years now and did not compete in 2022.

Blaydes is only 31. I do think its highly likely he wins the title before his career is over but Jones and Stipe might be retired before he gets a crack at it.

Back to Fedor, hopefully he wins the Bellator title next month despite being 46.

It is interesting that the GOAT HW is a true LHW if he ever bothered to cut weight the way Jones, DC, Bader, Couture, Vovchanchyn, Randleman, Shamrock, Bas, Coleman, etc… did when they competed at both LHW and HW in their careers.

Look through history and you’ll find that it’s usually not the biggest guys who were the very best in boxing or mma. There’s such a stamina component to fighting that there’s definitely a tipping point to size. Although Jones is quite tall, he has been able to move quite well and impose his will on people up to this point.

Hi Curtis, how have you been?
