Is Anderson at his peak?

A comment on another thread made me think. He is 37, which is old in MMA years. Is he at his best now? Do you think age is slightly catching up with him where he is on a very modest decline? We all know he has issues with tendinitis, but are things like that impacting his performance in the cage, where he is not as fast 4-5 years ago?

It's so tough to say since he seems light years above everyone, so if he fades slightly, it might not be noticeable... Phone Post

37?

37?

Yup. Phone Post

I think Anderson is on the tail end of his prime and will probably retire within the next few years due to accumulation of injuries and general wear and tear.

Prime in MMA is a very interesting subject overall. I say this spider does beat all others. The man HAS continued to learn in this ever evolving sport. His skill is still TOP notch!

hasn't taken much damage so he could very well have a lengthy peak that could be continuing and could for a couple of years

Yes.

He is at the Peak of the Weakest division in MMA.

A division where he fights out of prime LHW's and Fighters who couldn't cut it at LHW>

I'm going to have to say no he isn't.But he is still better than any other fighter in the world atm. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he looses within his next 3 fights but thats okay what he has accomplished in the sport of MMA is fucking nuts.

Would also like to add this is coming from a quote un quote Anderson nuthuger not just saying that look up any post i have said about Andy

DeusEx - Yes.

WHY DO YOU HAVE TO COME HERE JUST TO SHIT ON ANDERSON? GET A LIFE. Phone Post

 yes

he will fight one or two more then retire as a juggernaught and legend.

As for Anderson being in his prime.

I believe he was in his Prime back when he got his best win against Mach.

Then in his prime he lost to meh fighters in PRIDE and went to the UFC where the competition was easier at the time.

DeusEx - Yes.

Im not fighter bashing.

I respect Anderson Silva...I just think he should move up to LHW where their is better talent.

he wants none of the LHW division which saddens me.

How is this trolling even relevant to the thread?

If he fights "out of prime LHWs" what do you call Rampage and Shogun, who are two of Bones' "elite" wins? Both are clearly far from the fighter they were back in unregulated Japan of 2004-7...

I feel like his prime is ending now, or he was "peaking" about 3-5 years ago.

His reflexes seem to have slowed just a tad, and he is prone with more and more ailments/injuries as of late. His body has some serious miles on it.

I think in terms of his athleticism and physical traits, he may be out of his prime. He seems to be a tad bit slower than he used to be...although he also seems to have more one-shot power than he used to as well. However, his actual techniques have continued to improve over the years, which has compensated for his aging. Phone Post

I think he may have passed it. Although the Sonnen rematch went exactly the way I thought it would, I thought Anderson still looked sloppy. Maybe he was just too emotional, I don't know.
