Captain Epic -Hes super nice IRL, met him at a grocery store near our houses and he took a picture with me as I starstruckingly mumbled to myself. He looked at the picture and said " look at those two studs", smiled and walked away. I started laughing as I left since I couldn't believe I got so stupified.. I was loading my car with my wife and kids as he walked out and waved. Later that night I tweeted that I couldn't believe I met Chael and got so starstruck that I didn't ask him any of the questions I was dying to talk to him about (this was right around the time he was about to fight Anderson the second time). He DM'd me and said I had beautiful family and it was nice to meet me.
Thats legit as fuck
Met him in Las Vegas a few months after he had beaten Brian Stann. Literally, could not have been a nicer guy. Spoke for probably 15 mins and told him how disappointed I was for him I after the A Silva fight. He put his hand on my shoulder, looked me directly in the eye and said something along the lines of "That really means a lot, I feel extremely fortunate to have fans like you" and I genuinely believed him.
Chael is as good a dude as any fighter I've met and I've met quite a few.
Met him at his Mean Streets Pizza place he used to have in West Linn. I was in Oregon on a family matter. Anyway, I told another employee there that I drove 2 hours out of the way just to eat there because I was a big Chael fan. (I had a Jon Jones Chicken) Anyway while I was enjoying the food and atmosphere, the guy I talked to called him and he drove over just to say Hi! He thanked me for being a fan, we talked amateur wrestling (I wrestled and coached for many years), he gave me a signed shirt and his email address. Genuinely nice guy, talked as if he had known me for years. Some months later, I emailed for some Greco advice (folk and freestyle were my thing and I was taking a team to Fargo) and got an answer really quickly. It had been months but he remembered me. We emailed a few times about technique. After Fargo, he shot me an email to ask how the kids on my team made out. He really cares about wrestling and people. I was beyond impressed.

This
He's clearly a fantastic human.

Great story, I love stuff like that
ThatsHowIRoll -MasterofMartialArts -He comes off as a genuinely good dude.
Yeh about as genuine as a convicted money launderer and fighter to be busted for the longest list of banned substances in the history of the UFC can be.
I guess you chose to ignore the many posters and people who have met him in real life and say he's great.
Tweeted at him years ago before I started college asking for advice with starting mma teaining, he dmed me and shot me a ton of great advice. A few months later he dmed out of the blue and asked how it turned out and how school was going. He genuinely cares about people he meets which is such a weird thing today.
All the posters saying he's a sociopath definitely have some problems.
UFC need to get him on commentary
Dravenlives -UFC need to get him on commentary
Good idea, he can definetly do a better job than some of the current commentators… Not gonna say names…
Dude is awesome. I was in Vegas some years ago with my brother in law Sean Asher for July fight week so got to meet a lot of fighters and Chael had an after party and gave me some random wrist band and later found out it meant I could get anything at the bar for free all night!! Was a kickass night and ended hanging with McCorkle most of the night and was one of the funniest nights of my life.
All due to Chael and that wrist band for free boos
Yes. Polite and fan friendly.
Captain Epic -Kirik -The Undertaker is not actually an undertaker.
Sonnen is one of the nicest guys in the sport, and the smartest.
It's an act to put asses in seats. It worked.
Exactly this, another friend of mine who worked at a phone store helped Chael get a phone. My friend was a huge mma fan but seriously didn't like the brash, trash talking, fight promoting "heel" character sonnen puts on. So while he was helping Chael he told him so, he said Chael just laughed it off and said "hey, you can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs"
Legend.
I hope your friend wasn't the guy who sold him the Verizon warranty
One of the nicest most respectful people ive ever met. Used to hate him but hes probably my favorite fighter ever now.
Not a deep interaction but I responded to one of his tweets with a trolly message not thinking he would read it but he dmed me with a sincere and honest response. U can tell he's actually one of the good guys.

Apparently I don't know this story?
But it was att not verizon and I pretty sure it was a flip phone for one of Chaels friends :)

Who all chose to ignore that he's a scumbag
never meet him, with the right filter spits out a lot of truth.
seems friendly, but hey everyone has a bad day sometimes
when I was an MMA journalist, Sonnen was the nicest guy. Used to text me on my birthday and wish me a happy birthday. How did he know it was my birthday?
