So basically, if you win and are lucky enough to fight 3X in the first year, you are guaranteed $45K. Take away 20% to management/trainers and 25% to taxes, these guys are guaranteed to make around $25K/year. If they win all their fights, which is rare, they may make around $50K/year. So realistically, this amazing "6 figure contract" takes them up to 3 years to earn.
Colton Smith lost all 3 fights and is probably getting cut. So his "6 figure contract" earned him about $25K. It essentially means nothing and just sounds fancy. It's like telling a teacher they just signed a million dollar teaching contract, neglecting to mention that they will need to teach 30 years to earn it.

Nope, but I've had several friends fight for them, understand how contracts work, and have seen the contracts. NSAC releases fighter salaries. So no, no employer information through Zuffa, but I can read. Can you?

Devaluing a contract by counting taxes and management/trainer fees is pretty misleading.
Compare 15K to show with what they were making before TUF and you wil see it doesn't "essentially mean nothing".
It's not big time money, but it's a good pay bump and major exposure that benefits a fighter for the rest of his career, even if he does get cut from the UFC.

Though I think the TUF contracts are longer than just that first year, I'm pretty sure after your first 3 fights, as long as you're winning, your contract automatically gets bumped up. Michael Chiesa went 2-1 his first three fights after winning, made 15/15 each, but in his next fight after that he made 20/20. So you don't need to win every fight to get paid more, I think these guys make out alright.
Kelvin Gastelum just won his first 3 fights after winning TUF, so he made 90k this year, sure you have taxes and all that, but he also has sponsors and such, so I'm sure he did okay. And he'll definitely be on a bigger contract now, so this year he could do quite well for himself.

Colton Smith is the only TUF winner to lose his first 3. Terrible example.
So, you admit it is not a "6 figure contract?" If it's possible for a fighter to get paid only $45K before he's cut, it's not really 6 figures, is it?

I have always thought it was very misleading. Just be honest and say what it is. You won a contract to fight in the UFC.
