Whatever happened to him? He obviously made an impact in BJJ, but he was also a huge part of Johnny Hendricks success. He played a part in having him absolutely dialed in for his fight with GSP. He was a frequent guest of MMA Junkie Radio back in the day and IMO seemed to have a great analytical mind for the sport.
mostly i remember how hughes was trying to get him to roll with serra
laimon said he was down and serra walked away
That was a pretty good season
Swim teacher that never gets in to the pool
Solid burn, holds up
Serra basically called him a bitch and no one ever saw lemon again
He’s obnoxious, as anyone who’s ever coached against him can attest.
Marc created a great training atmosphere that produced highly competitive grapplers and fighters. As for his personality, I can understand how some people would not like him. I didn’t have a problem with him but I am good at adapting to different types of people. Regardless, he was doing well in Wisconsin the last time we spoke. I really appreciate my time at CKJJ from 2005-08. Marc knows Grappling as well as anyone I learned a ton and trained with some of the toughest guys in the world for 3 years. FYI, Marc has a serious back injury that prevented him from having a long competitive career. People who trained with him know that he was no chump despite being limited by his back injury. They also know he can be a dick. Im cool with all that.
@HYBRID_JON Kinda hard to win a verbal assault with a Long Islander when you come from the country. Right, Jon!

Or anyone that competed against his guys. He was the most annoying coach ever in a corner. I looked up at him once and said,” why don’t you fuck off”.

Let me guess, he never acknowledged your comment and avoided all eye contact thereafter. He was always the sort to deliberately antagonize everyone around him and then hide behind mock innocence when called on it.

Actually what he said after was,” Jeff he is more worried about me than you. Get at him.”

he can be a dick
This could be said about quite a few high-level trainers. I’ve experienced it first hand, and I too don’t care if they are, either.

That sounds right. He’d never engage you directly.
I got this
Marc relocated to a suburb outside of Milwaukee and has a small school
- he also teaches at another affiliate
Recently promoted Matt Giancarlo to black belt a few months ago
- his school is called Crimson Guard located in Chicago’s south side
I have been trying to get an interview with him for over a year now, so I test the waters every few months.
Hoping to get lunch with him in October
In terms of skill
Marc is absolutely no joke
His resume is really impressive
Chris Brennan and I talked on the phone about the Serra / TUF incident
- Marc can legitimately fight, I have seen it first hand on multiple occasions. When he and I had our issues; it was over money that I owed him… I paid him back, but I needed a little time. When Marc and I Had out grappling match I (Brennan) tapped early because of the cash that I owed. Marc was a gentleman and didn’t break my shit, I couldn’t say the same thing if the rolls were reversed.
Fuck that’s legit commentary and why I have always Respek Chris.
