Yes. Strange that. Not a wresling fan per se, and yet I know my shit. Just saying guys. You would't shit on Saku's pro wrestling roots would you.

Parts Unknown - It's direspectful. Guys here talking shit about something they have zero practical experience with, especially considering who started this thread. Newsflash. It's takes a level of toughness and smarts to make it in pro wrestling that is foreign to 99% of the population. I'm guessing most of the basement dwellers here couldn't even get into the ring, with both Bella twins offering up themselves as incentive. It just makes MMA fans seem really, really ignorant. For the record, I have not watched wrestling on TV in over 10 years, nor have I bought a ticket to a live event.

It was gentle ribbing, not disrespect. If CM Punk just wanted to take an MMA fight, he could have done so as countless pro wrestlers have before him, in a regional promotion. Instead he determined to fight in the UFC. They had to take him, as if they didn't, Bellator would, opening a door the size they never imagined to a PPV.

CM Punk has no combat sports experience. So there is going to be some eyebrows raised and some ribbing, as there would be if Tom Cruise was accepted as a jet fighter pilot, based on his pioneering work in Top Gun.

CM Punk knows how to create drama, and likely appreciates the attention, whether it is pro or con. He didn't seem to like the drunk UGers at the UFC 182 Q&A, but then who did? :-)

Parts Unknown - Ya ya, pro wrestling is scripted. Unfortunately, the concussions and myriad of other injuries are not.

Most people posting here would not last past day one of a legit pro wrestling school, so how about we lay off the wrestling is fake stuff huh?

Your first day of a legit pro wrestling school you are going to do pretty much the same thing you'd do at a legit judo or BJJ school- work on your breakfalls.

Aren't you overlooking something here? Like the ufc's part in this whole fiasco?

It takes two to tango and the ufc is taking the lead.

A rib? Ok. Fair enough. I can see your points. I hope you can see where I'm coming from as well. Like it or not, this guy brings viewers to the table. To paraphrase Robin Black, as a purist, no I don't like it, but this is a business.

I've literally said nothing about how people bash pro wrestlers, or the fans until now, but once the mod starts in I had to say something.

You never know who you're talking to on the web is kind of all I'm saying.

Do people really think that Punk was the one who approached the ufc with this?

His body language and demeanor tell the tale of whats going on here.

He was talked into something he clearly isn't ready for.

Pretty sure Punk would destroy Kirik in a fight. Phone Post 3.0

But But Cole Miller said....

I was so sure this thread was going to be about how Kirik realized that demanding people pay $30 a year to have the same posting abilities as every other forum gives for free, while simultaneously having more ads than any forum I've ever seen, was a colossal mistake.

Thank you for your constructive argument. You clearly win at winning. Bet you've got a fresh faux hawk and some sweet tribal ink though right, Bro?

Fighter bashing is still fighter bashing. Ban yourself? No one gave a shit when James Tony fought for a lump some of cash and the match was over in like .02 seconds. At least give Punk the benefit of the doubt since he is actually training in the mixed martial arts. Phone Post 3.0

Nope.

He decided instead to fighter bash (albeit playfully).

Kirik - guess you need to amend your TOS to make an exception regarding Fighter Bashing where Punk is concerned.

Punk is signed to the UFC as a 'fighter' before anyone starts crying Phone Post 3.0

I think if you are over the age of 18 and watch wrestling, you may have some learning disability or secretly watch soap operas during the day in your "man cave" which is located in your mom's basement.

It's not a knock on the wrestlers cuz they do get battered but it's a male version of "days of our lives." The undertaker lost in wrestlemania...OMFG!!!

I was lucky enough to be a kid in the attitude era and loved it but can't watch more than 5 mins now. Phone Post 3.0
Lol at this logic. Ahhh. I love it. I don't have a disability, nor do I live in my moms basement. I do however have a man cave. My own man cave. Granted I'm sure I'm the odd one in the bunch..... Phone Post 3.0

In fairness to your point, the damage wrestlers take is a lot worse than the damage most fighters take. Most wrestlers are addicted to painkillers

john joe - he thinks Herb Dean is amazing because not once could he spot the bits where Dean was telling the fighters which moves and sequences to do next

Exactly. Even if you're doing well in the indie circuit, you're in the ring, taking damage 2 or 3 nights a week. More if you're in the WWE, where it's not uncommon to be in the ring 200-300 times a year.

Running the ropes feels like whiplash. Full on back bumps, even taken properly add up, nevermind if the ring is hard. Everyone thinks it's like a trampoline because the WWE rings flex. Many indie rings do NOT give like that and the back of your head takes a beating.

Then there's the ill timed kicks, punches, elbows and knees. You can usually count on at least one or two ringing your bell in a match. Times X number of matches in a week, it adds up.

Oh, and nobody cares if you're banged up or badly injured. "Call us when you're ready again".

Pro wrestling is every bit as hard on the body as any sport, including MMA, though not as bas as obesity and poor diet. Right keyboard warriors???
