Jake Ellenberger: Stupid fighters want wars

Hugo Stiglitz -
Haulport - And Hugo, Wanderlei Silva would NEVER have said any of that shit.....................

And that's the difference between younger fighters and older fighters.... It's called evolving and your witnessing it, you should be happy.

I live Wandy and all the fighters from the same era as him but you have to admit there is a new breed of fighter entering the game. It's funny that everyone seems to hate it and thats why I suggest to those fans maybe go out and check the smaller promotions where most guys are looking for a glorified bar fight.

Jake is just telling the truth... Did you expect him or any or any fighter to come out and say "I hope to get dropped a few times and take alot of punishment" Phone Post
You are completely mixing up Wandy's love to be aggressive with his poor boxing. There is a major difference between someone who loves to go to war and someone who just wants to win and it has NOTHING to do with getting hit and taking punishment because of a skill set. If wandy could have become a great boxing like Rampage his career would be competely different and he would be just as aggressive.

Jake is expressing a sad sentiment that is becoming the norm in the sport...

Guys like Bas, Coleman, Wandy, Shogun, Ninja, Liddell, Sergei, Don Frye, etc. etc. etc. LOVED (and lived for) a good fight.

Jake just wants to compete in a sport and make a living at it.

Any fighter with weak cardio like Jake would hate wars... Phone Post

Sorry, I don't understand how I'm mixing up Wanderlai's aggressiveness with his boxing when I didn't mention anything of the sort besides saying "I love Wandy".

All those fighters you listed are great fighters but I just don't know what point your trying to prove by bringing them up when I was talking about fighter evolution. Yes they "LOVED" to fight are saying professional fighters of today don't LOVE to fight?

Ellenberger isn't saying anything sad he's saying what a guarantee 100% of fighters are hoping for..... I've said before and now I'm going to ask you do you think fighters want to take punishment or get knocked out?

Of course he wants to compete in mma/sport and make a living at it.... What are you even trying to say here? Is it wrong of him to want to train and fight and earn money?

Everything they you replied with is pretty off topic of what I said so it sorta makes me think your trollin.... Phone Post

No, you don't seem to get it. None of those guys would have wanted to finish anyone quick with as little damage as possible. Chuck cried himself to sleep every time he put someone down in the 1st or 2nd without taking damage. He had BUDO!!!!111!!!23d3

I would like to note that I love these babies who come into threads like this lamenting the "decay" of the sport, while passive-aggressively suggesting that they're going to go watch "something else" - yeah, sure you are... :'-(

LOL BUDO

MMA is not the killing fields man it's a fucking sport and criticizing someone for wanting to remember their glory yaers when they are 55 is smart to me.

Last time I checked, the UFC pays these guys to FIGHT, not to AVOID fights... as far as glory years are concerned, maybe he should of pursued a career in the psychology field instead.

What the fuck are you talking about? No one said anything about avoiding fights.

No need to cuss...

I'm talking about:

... I train, to not get hit & not take damage...

How about training to finish your opponent?

and if the evolution of all future fights continue in the same manner as Diaz vs. Condit then the UFC and all of its fighters are in for a big surprise.

Don't misunderstand me, I'm not looking for a brawl. I appreciate a submission equally as much as a knock out. I find it far more humiliating to make a man cry uncle than to have a referee stop the fight, but I never thought I would say that it is even more humiliating to run from your opponent for 5 rounds...

How about training to finish your opponent? Really? Did you see him fight Jake Shields? Phone Post

Nice, cheap shot at Condit there....

The guy finishes almost every fight until he gets the chance at the interim title and fights the smart fight and he's humiliated.... Haha, more like he took full advantage of the opportunity in front of him.... Something that Diaz could have done by adapting his strategy in fight or something as simple as not failing a drug test....

Anderson... I do know what the point he was trying to make is but what I am saying is that since those fighters time the sport has evolved.... Maybe I should have worded it better... Chuck would cry if e finished a guy early, well there's a part example Chuck Liddell.... Took a ton of abuse his career and fortunately his fame has lead him to live comfortably after fighting... My opinion I don't think Ellenberger will be any where near as popular as Chuck was/is, so for him to have this thought process makes sense doesn't it.... Phone Post

Sorry Matt I mean no disrespect to you, I'm especially not here to argue with actual fighters just other fans.

I'm speaking in general terms as a result of Diaz vs. Condit. Nothing more, nothing less. I guess this was a bad thread to do it in. I actually haven't seen any Ellenberger fights except for the Diego one.

Just looked at your record, I see you finish fights all the time. I'll try and find some videos of your fights.

Anyway, take care man. I hope you make it to the really big show some day.

Peace.

What did he say that was wrong? I don't see what is wrong with what he said in anyway.

Jake is 100% on the money.

Some fighters main purpose is to entertain the fans while sone feel winning is and should be the only thing matters... Just depends on the outlook. You can make an argument for either. Phone Post

Yep........a bunch of 10ers, 11ers and 12ers who don't have a fucking clue..............................And if you don't understand what I posted:

The difference between loving to fight and just wanting to compete in a sport and make a living at it

Then you are too stupid to continue conversing with.......

Ellenberger is most likely just butt hurt that Dana came out saying the outcome would likely have been different if it went an extra 2 rounds.

When you make an announcement saying it was a mistake to not make all main events 5 rounds, RIGHT after a fight which saw Jake slow in the third, I could see how people would think he believed the outcome may have been different.

Wand boxed all his best opponents.
