I love how so many fighter say, I just want a war. I just listened to a guy who got a quick knockout and then said, I would have rather had a long war.
Are you stupid???
I like short fights. If every fight could be quick, I'm more than happy with that, but unfortunately it's rare. "I just want a war", or "I love getting hit" Really stupid?? Because I don't.
Thats why I train, to not get hit & not take damage. This sport is no longer a "tough-man" competition, its a stratigic equation, and most of the time, the more intelligent fighter wins. I dont know about you, but I dont want my brain to be used as a speed bag.
JonnySweats - The objective of every fighter should be to win as quickly as possible, whilst taking the minimum of damage. this is known as "common sense"
There are certain fighters that are better at "wars" than others. Guys who have great chins and KO power. So,yeah, to try and fight a war with a guy that has a chin and power is indeed stupid. Sure its fun to watch but the thing with MMA is that there are too many "fans" that think every fighter NEEDS to fight this way to be a man.
On the flipside, nobody blames a striker for trying to out BJJ a guy like Aoki or Maia.
I think we all understand why fighters say shit in previews to hype it up but the problem is that these "fans" think the fighters are traitors or pussies if they dont come out and try and brawl like no tomorrow from the bell.

Not to Diaz fans <img src="/images/phone/apple.png" alt="Phone Post" border="0" style="vertical-align:middle;"/>
Qft. There should be a stand and Wang division for people that don't appreciate the sporting aspect of mma. Maybe then the retards would stfu. <img src="/images/phone/apple.png" alt="Phone Post" border="0" style="vertical-align:middle;"/>
Manny Yarbrough GOAT - Funny he says it after that Diego fight, yeah he won, but had it been 5 Rounds it surely would have been a war, and there is a real chance he might have lost.
Hes going to be in a war wth Diaz one day and hes going to wilt. The guy gassed after three rounds. Hes a young Baroni type fighter. With good hands and no tank. That muscle gets you tired if u cant get a flash ko.

Wow really? So what you are insinuating is one of two things. Either Diaz doesn't try to win the fight as quickly as possible, or Condit actually was against Diaz. I suspect the latter, though I'm not sure which is more laughable. Condit was trying to finish if it came to him, but he was not unhappy at all to just run out the clock.

I guess point fighting for 5 rounds is considered winning as quickly as possible...

Uhhhhh.....
What I'm saying is according to "the fans" of either Diaz brother that their opponent should stand at arms length and trade blows like they do in x-arm.
What Ellenberger is saying here makes perfect sense to anyone not wearing tapout, metal mulisha or affliction.
Jake Ellenberger recently posted his theory of fighting on facebook.

Haulport - And Hugo, Wanderlei Silva would NEVER have said any of that shit.....................
And that's the difference between younger fighters and older fighters.... It's called evolving and your witnessing it, you should be happy.
I live Wandy and all the fighters from the same era as him but you have to admit there is a new breed of fighter entering the game. It's funny that everyone seems to hate it and thats why I suggest to those fans maybe go out and check the smaller promotions where most guys are looking for a glorified bar fight.
Jake is just telling the truth... Did you expect him or any or any fighter to come out and say "I hope to get dropped a few times and take alot of punishment"
