Guys, the quality of that video is absolutely atrocious. I can't
understand why I continually watch videos on the internet that should
be done professionally since they're demo's, pro fights, etc., and
they're just trash. The worst yet was probably Joe Lauzon's, I could
barely even make it out.
For the love of God, hire someone to produce a quality video/dvd.

I understand where your coming from but understand a couple of
things:
1) If a video is recorded on some shitty Hi-8 camera, there's not a lot I
can do to make the image look better, all I did was edit his fights
together, not shoot them.
2) Cade had to lower the quality of the video to get the file size down
to 22 mb's, so it ended up looking like an offline cut by the time it was
done. I put it onto a DVD with Zero compression and rediculous file
size, so Cade did what he had to do to get it viewable at all.
I'm a professional editor and yeah, the image quality was pretty bad,
but unless its shot on a good format and I have to digitize off of 3rd
generation VHS, what do you expect?

Wow, must be nice to be able to control all aspects of MMA video production and create a broadcast quality piece using all state of the art gear.
Unfortunately most up and coming fighters don't have the money to have their fights documented on high end video equipment.
I have seen the work of both Cade Nelson and Ed Doty. Personally I think you gotta have a major pair or brass balls to tag your critique on their work with "MMA Videographer / Photographer".

Yeah, well, duh. Look, I cut highlight videos for Pride sometimes. Do
those look better than what Hook N Shoot or Extreme Midwest
whatever can provide? Of course. Jason didn't have the option of
recording his fight on DigiBeta, nor did I have access to my time
machine so I could travel back and film it on a Panasonic DVX-100a.
Does that mean I shouldn't have cut a reel for my friend?

And downloading and installing the SVCD codec. The thing needs an MPEG-2 codec (as used in SVCD and DVD's).

Def in order for your virgin eyes to be protected from anything shot
without a three-CCD camera. In the meantime, I'll continue to have no
problem finding work as an editor, and you can go back to filming
"Kareoke events" (whatever the HELL that means) and little Suzie's Bat
