...as the best & greatest heavyweight in MMA history. Just like Jon Jones surpassed Chuck Liddell as the best & greatest light heavyweight. Just like George St.Pierre surpassed Matt Hughes as the best & greatest welterweight.
(Whether prime Chuck would beat Jones or prime Hughes was the very best at 170-lbs. and the current "Point Fighter Version" of GSP is not worthy of such acknowledgement is another discussion, alright guys :)
It's the basic fact in MMA, in all sports really; the next guy will eventually take over the other guy.
Junior dos Santos' list of victims is ALREADY better than Fedor Emelianenko's, take a look:
Frank Mir
Cain Velasquez
Shane Carwin
Roy Nelson
Gabriel Gonzaga
Mirko Crocop
Fabricio Werdum
(NEXT: Alistair Overeem :)
Not to mention JDS either KO all of these guys or brutally destroyed them. And he NEVER once he appeared to be in danger. JDS, simply put, is making it seem so easy just like what Anderson Silva's doing at the 185-lbs. division. And he hasn't been scratched his full potential yet as he's only entering his athletic prime at 28 years old. JDS' heavyweight reign could most likely be the longest in UFC history.
Fedor's most notable wins?
Minotauro Nogueira
Mirko Crocop
Andrei Arlovski
Tim Sylvia
Mark Coleman
Kevin Randleman
That's a good list, but JDS' is better. Sure, Fedor's 27-win streak was cool and all, but imagine this, what if switched places to Fedor during his heydays in Pride? Exactly, JDS would wrecked those guys the same, maybe even worse, and probably JDS would even amass twice that number. It's also worth noting that in some of Fedor's fights, he struggled and took the greater punishment than his opponents. JDS? His unscratched as diamond in his 10-fight winning streak.
Don't get me wrong, it was an honor for me watching somebody like Fedor fight and IMO he's Top 3 all time in my G.O.A.T. list and obviously he's the current # 1 heavyweight ever, but records are meant to be broken, legends are meant to be surpassed by another eventual legend and that man is JDS.
Anyway that's what I think but what do you guys think?
Im sure ill get VTFD....but im gonna agree. Im not sure if JDS is better than Fedor, but hes getting there fast. I am excited to watch the next few years of JDS' career...should be stellar.
So it is written,
So let it be done,
Junior Dos Santos is the Chosen One
Already has.
if overeem has 2 more wins before he fights jds, and jds clowns overeem, then he will have a rightful claim to being the best all time hw.
Cain will win in a rematch

If he beats Overeem he clinches it for me.
Chuck being the greatest LHW is debatable.
Not sure why anyone would say this thread is retarded. JDS is on a very similar career path to Fedor. At age 28 both guys were the #1 HW and did not look like they were relinquishing the title anytime soon.
Where had auzzie been?

I think it's because it's such a tired thought, everyone who is number 1 in their division is the GOAT of that diviison at that particular time. People were saying similar shit about Cain, if JDS goes and gets KO'd by Overeem people will forget about him and be calling Overeem the HW GOAT.

I dunno dude, JDS has done significantly more than Cain at this point, and more importantly he has never even looked challenged in any of his UFC fights. I mean shit, he even made his UFC debut against a top 5 HW and he blew him out.
Jon Jones may be more creative and flashy at LHW but JDS has really looked every bit as dominant at HW.
Ya for sure JDS record is better then Cain's was when he was champ. It's just kinda ridiculous and fickle to start talking about this type of stuff at the point in my opinion. But it is a message board, any present day champs record is going to end up looking way better when you look at consistent quality of competition it's just a different era
True but I think it's interesting to compare their career paths. JDS just turned 28, and Fedor at age 28 was just coming off his 2nd fight (the no-contest) with Nog. Much like Fedor, JDS looks like he could rule the division for the next 4-5 years.
People are really quick to defend breaking rules around here. I am glad yet another troll account has been dispatched.

LOL 18 months ago, you people were saying that Cain was the new Fedor.
Let's just wait and see what happens.
