Jeremy Stephens can't be guilty

2Jupes is raising his game.... and I like it a lot Phone Post

I've been lowering my game for six months and I'm frankly too exhausted to keep not trying. Phone Post

I've talked with more than witnesses that saw the whole thing and know for a fact he did not do this. I won't put all of his business out there, just know he is innocent.

If he fights it and goes to trial, it would be fitting to have you on the jury.

But how does one explain Joe Son?

Much in the same way you can't ask Edd Byrnes to lend you his comb when he's off the set.

He just finished combing his hair to perfection, and this chick is all Kookie, Kookie, lend me your comb so I can go get long straggly hairs caught throughout, and you will never feel the smooth, soothing stroke of a premium barber shop comb without the threat of lice.

It/s just like that.

very odd thread...strangely compelling, but odd.

I think the "Kentucky Fried Chicken worker hates eating chicken on his time off" theory is very plausible in this case.

Details of the incident are in and it's clearer than ever that Jeremy Stephens can't be guilty.

According to police reports, the victim and his wife were at Fat Tony's, 1500 SE 1st St., with Stephens and Dustin James Bachman, 27. The victim had reportedly been asked to leave the bar and was still in the parking lot when Stephens and Bachman emerged soon after. According to the victim's wife, Stephens punched the victim in the left eye. The victim leaned against the building and Bachman punched him on the head and face several times, police said. The victim's wife helped him get into their car and was trying to lock the doors when Bachman reportedly pulled the victim out of the vehicle by his feet. Stephens and Bachman then allegedly punched and kicked the victim on his head and body for about a minute, authorities said. The suspects fled. The victim was unconscious and stopped breathing twice, police reports show. He was intubated and taken to the hospital in critical condition.

I got a good chuckle out of the idea that an MMA fighter who punches people every day would go to a bar called Fat Tony's, punch a guy not just once but several times, and then RUN away. You're telling me that a guy who probably abhors the grind of cardio training would continue to put in the unnecessary work of beating a man within an inch of his life and then go for a jog? Good luck selling that to a jury.

/\ Exactly. That's why Chad Mendes stuck around as well.

Judging a whole group such as "ufc fighters" as one subset that all have the same ideals, morals, and personalities makes a ton of sense to me. It's not like everyone is different. Probably why I've never ever read a story about an mma fighter getting in a bar brawl or streetfight, ever

Perhaps a free package of XXXL Free Jeremy Stephens shirts for that fellow's wife would mend the hard feelings. Phone Post

The victim's wife witnessed the incident, which was actually 2 separate incidents of assault outside the bar. She implicated Stephens and was fully aware of who he is since they had arrived together at the bar earlier that evening.

I would take the word of a witness at the scene over any of you opinionated idiots who are speculating. Stephens did not stay to render the victim help, he fled with the other perp and left the scene. He was also aware of the incident because his best friend was arrested the next day. If he was innocent he would not have fled and avoided the warrant during the time he was in California over the past year. Just because the cops don't come knocking at your door on the other side of the country doesn't indicate innocence or your lack of responsibility for resolving a warrant.

Obviously Stephens made mistakes.
1. He shouldn't have assaulted and jumped a drunk guy with the help of another guy.
2. If he was stupid enough to do that, which he was (as indicated by witness and police), he should'nt have done it in front of a witness.
3. If he was innocent he would have helped the victim after his friend beat hell from the victim and not fled; because he was acquainted with both prior to the incident and was party to the assault, at the very least he should not have fled.
4. If he was innocent he would've confronted the charges like a man and resolved the situation through the legal system by testifying against the real perpetrator in an effort to clear his name, since he was at the scene.
5. His final mistake was trying to proclaim his innocence after all indications are he was one of the perps and was involved and made no effort to resolve it legally, because now his integrity is in question along with his career.

I am personally glad he was arrested and I hope he gets booted from the UFC permanently for being such an idiot. I don't think the UFC needs to keep fighters who behave like idiots. There are always young talented fighters who can replace them who would be willing to exercise more caution and discretion with the legal system.

I think if two guys double-team a single guy and nearly kill him, they should both be put in prison for a very long time.

LOL @ the argument and retarded logic that because Stephens is a professional fighter it indicates innocence. If I've learned anything, it is that pro fighters are no different than regular people. Just like regular people they make dumb mistakes, we've seen it happen so many times. Because he is a pro fighter, it does not make him less likely to do something stupid like jump and stomp someone outside of a bar. The issue of the crime has no relevance to Stephen's status as a fighter, it is completely related to who he is as a person. As a human being, his behavior after the incident proves to me how irresponsible immature he is as an adult. Smart ethical people don't approach the legal system by arguing ignorance or by ignoring it and fleeing. If you look at dumb unethical people, they're the ones who behave that way.

The UFC doesn't need people like that in their organization. That is why I have no sympathy for Nick Diaz or Rampage or Junie or Kimo or Karo. A professional organization should hold its members to a higher standard than a fringe organization (Bellator, IFC). Stephens can go take his career to a different organization where he can get away with being an idiot, but the UFC should distance themselves from that type of scrutiny if they ever want to be taken seriously by the mainstream. Their financial interests would be best served by distancing themselves from irresponsible idiots.

Proper mitigation of risk = profit and success.

Proper regulation of behavior = professionalism.

Professionalism = not jumping and stomping someone outside of a bar then fleeing and avoiding a warrant and lying about it.
