Jiu Jitsu is full of stallers not fighters...

FIGHTING JIU-JITSU MEANS GOING ALL OUT

"I came up with one good lesson. I feel that, regardless of the result or how the match is going, you should never stop or consider quitting. I went all out, showing what my Jiu-Jitsu's like in all my matches. I learned that six minutes isn't much time at all and that it's really important to take the lead early on. I also think I taught everyone else a lesson, showing that Jiu-Jitsu is made for fighting, not stalling. Jiu-Jitsu these days is full of stallers who fight to be able to say they didn't tap to so-and-so," said Galvão.

Unfortunately competing has in fact turned into a stall-fest instead of going for the submission.

This is EXACTLY why Rose Gracie is doing it right.

yep at the highest levels for sure.

Nogi > Gi : the IBJJF rules to restrict reaping : heel hooks etc makes for a boring match.

ADCC always delivers for me , not all gi matches are boring , as said before , only high levels stall alot bc any mistake can ruin it for you . Phone Post

I still like watching BJJ (gi) matches. Phone Post

I actually like the six minutes, I think makes them be more aggressive. Phone Post

omg, you can't do heel hooks in gi deal with it. You obvioulsy didn't watch the ad pro sd trials last weekend as it was a really good comp. ADCC doesn't get boring at all with the 20 min matches you get sometimes and 2 bjj guys spending 3 mins straight trying to do shitty TDs on each other? I guess every good match in ADCC involved leg reaping and heel hooks.

whining about reaping gi is really getting old. i am going to go bitch because the sky is blue. it is total bullshit. i want a green sky to match the grass. fucking boring looking outside my window.

Sub only is the answer Phone Post

Pretty sure there was more subs by heel hooks in adcc than any other sub .. And yes its part of the game so why restrict it bc 80% dont know how to do a fuckin straight ankle . Your probably one of them . Yes this weekend event was good , lots of great match ups but like i said IBJJF rules are straight bullshit .

And bc yanking on a lapel for 3 minutes is just as exciting , no not all great matches need to end by heel hook but why restrict it ? Takes away from the fun and for fuck sake they ban the berimbolo !? Like really .. Phone Post

Last IBJJF thing I watched, the brown and purple belts were way more fun to watch than black belts. They had incentive to win rather than not to lose. Made much more fun for spectators. Black Belts seem to sit in positions for minutes, afraid of fucking up and then lose by an advantage or some such. Black belts should have different rules than lower belts to encourage them to go all out.

WOW! Have to admit, that may be the most excting balckbelt match I have seen in the last 2-3 years. The last one before that was Abmar when he beat Kron 11-0 and submitting Lucas.

I think I might have to agree that I may like 6 or 7 minute matches at black belt as opposed to 10 minute matches.  I know right now I'm used to 10 minute matches myself which seems to have an efffect in regards to slowing my game down and others...so when I do 6 min matches I need to adjust for sure.

i think there needs to be separate leagues: submission fighting and advantage fighting.

then you can look at yourself in the mirror and ask "do you want to be a !%?!%? advantage fighter!"

I agree that 10 minutes is too long.

5 minute no points period, make it happen.

I know Ryan Hall's matches look different gi vs. nogi. Paul Harris never had a boring match in ADCC. Galvao had some nice finishes, Marcelo was Marcelo with brillant non heelhook finishes.

I think the rule set has a lot to do with it, the reaping and heelhooks allows for more attacks and more attacks mean less stalling. I believe that advantages have a lot to do with it too. If you can go to 50/50 wait for the last 30 seconds and sit up for the win that can't be good.

We know IBJJF is not going to change most likely but ignoring a very real point of discussion because you're tired of is childish.
