The next UFC Flyweight Title challenger may be determined at UFC 169 in February, as Russian site MMABoxing.ru reports that Ali Bagautinov will take on John Lineker on the pay-per-view card.
Both fighters have emerged as impressive top end competitors at 125 lbs. in 2013, but for Lineker, the larger battle may be actually hitting the 125 lb. mark.
The 23-year-old Brazilian has missed weight in three of his five UFC fights, including his last two outings. He's kept his spot on the roster by winning fights in violent fashion, something he did again in October when he took out Phil Harris at UFC Fight Night 29.
However, if he's going to be considered for a title fight, he has to prove he can make the weight without issue. To that end, he's taken on the help of Mike Dolce to work on his nutrition and his cut.
He'll try to bring his strongest performance against the Russian Bagautinov, who has won both of his fights in the Octagon thus far. The impressive 28-year-old is now on a ten fight winning streak overall, and has looked very good in his UFC outings against Marcos Vinicius and Tim Elliott.
UFC 169 is headlined by the UFC Bantamweight Championship unification bout between Dominick Cruz and Renan Barao. The pay-per-view card takes place from New Jersey on February 1
