eilers is one of my favorite up and coming fighters. that being said i would rather see ricco in there for a couple reasons. 1. ricco already beat arlovksi 2. i dont want eilers get another loss this quickly. this is where imo the ufc goes wrong, they throw their young talent to the wolves way to early.
He definitely deserves respect, but I think what most people are confused about is why he'd get a title shot after getting KO'd by a newcomer to the UFC in his last fight. Seems you can respect him and simultaneously feel others should be ahead of him in line for the shot against Arlovski.
He doesn't deserve respect. Everybody here is right. Oh, and I heard he's gay too.
Really, I don't get why people are so upset with him getting that shot. Sounds like an exciting match up. Eilers is a pretty damn athletic big guy with some sick KO power. Him and Buentello would probably be 5/10 with each other if they fought 10 times.
All fighters get my respect for getting in the cage. Justin has balls for taking the fight. I just think it is kinda one sided and to early for him. I think he will get beat and will put 100 bucks on it. Any takers?
I'm sure he's a good fighter, but it's not like it was a lucky shot from Buentello that KO'ed him. Paul was beating him up the entire fight and the KO was the natural consequence of the way the fight was going up to that point.
I believe the fight WAS offered to Ricco, but since Team Punishment doesn't really exist any more, Ricco didn't have anyone to train with and he thought it would be too much trouble and too much money to put a training camp together, especially since he wasn't to be paid a great deal of money.
Josh's loss was clearly a fluke, but as far as I know, his shoulder's still messed up.
Eilers appears to be overmatched by Arlovski, and it seems strange that Buentello is fighting on the same card against a lesser opponent.
Oh I respect the hell out of him. That doesn't mean he isn't going to get the shit beat out of him by Arlovski but I definitely respect him for getting in there.
His getting a title shot is really a sad statement about the current HW division in the UFC than his deserving to be there. If Mir ever recovers from his accident and comes to back to fight Arlovski and loses, Arlovski will have to go to Pride for any real competition. Buentello might stand a chance, but outside of those two there is no one else remotely qualified to be in the ring with that man.
We shall see, they would not have put Paul in there if he wasn't up to
Andre's level. If all things are equal and they train just as hard for each
other, I'll take Andre.
