Kagi Gi Question

Does anyone here have a Kagi Sportarmor gi? How do you like them compared to other gis? Atama, for instance.

I've seen several threads on gis, but don't see the Kagi mentioned that often.

TIA

No one have a Kagi kimono? Or any experience with their company?

I have an older Kagi gold weave gi. It's actually my favorite gi. I think they quit making them. I know a few guys who had the single weaves and the tops were alright but the pants were real cheap. I know nothing about the sportsarmor ones but the pic they use is the same one they were using for the club sport.

Always like my old Kagi. I don't think they are around anymore. Built like a howard.

Kagi is still around. I actually work with Chris in developing and shipping gis. The website is www.kagisports.com or www.jiujitsugi.com. Although I am obviously biased, I challenge anyone to find a more durable and comfortable gi for the price.

If you like heavy gis, the sport armor is great. I prefer a lighter gi so I stick to the club sport. The design has changed since the older models but it has only gotten better.

Let me know if anyone has any more questions. I'd also like to get some feedback on those who grapple and compete in our gis.

Brian, thanks for jumping on here!

Just a few questions...

  1. Does the Club Sport have the same softer inside lining like the Sport Armor?

  2. Are they both single weave? Or is it a gold weave?

  3. What's your turnaround time?

TIA

Have not met anybody with one.

Best bets are Sirius, Atama, HCK, ect...

Moma news,

Both the Clubsport and Sportarmor are made with the same medium weight (27oz.) single weave outer shell which is napped on the inside. They also share the same cut. However, the Sportarmor has double weave inner padding, heavier pants, extended ankle/wrist cuffs and stronger lapel overlap and seam taping materials.

Gis ship out daily at 3 PM eastern time via UPS ground service. Actual delivery time is 2 to 5 days from date of order depending on your location. If you have any more questions or concerns you can post here or give me a call if you would prefer. Our number is posted on the website.

Chris, I appreciate the info!

A guy at our club has one of your Sportarmor gis. To tell the truth, I haven't paid that much attention to it, other than noticing the brand.

Now after looking around and comparing prices, I think I'll take a closer look.

I would also like to hear some feedback from those who have grappled & competed in these gis.

Anyone?

Looks like Chris beat me to the response.

Josh,

That is sort of unusual. I agree that a gi should last a lot longer than 6 months. I own several Kagis and rotate them on a regular basis. Never had one blow out yet. I guess stranger things have happened though.

I actually didn't get the email you're talking about. Send me an email (bjones@qx.net) and let's see about getting you a replacement top.

Hey Josh,

I remember talking to you about the tear. Don't remember what happened after that. You should have pressed me about getting the replacement. Email me your addy or call me with it and I'll ship one out with tomorrows pick up. Also verify that your still wearing a 4. (chris@kagisports.com)

For those of you reading this that don't know us personally, our policy is to replace any gi that experiences a problem due to a design or manufacturing flaw free of charge. All you have to do is ship the gi back to us so we can figure out what happened and prevent it from happening again. Our quality guarantee can be found at the following link:
