Curious how many other people see that as the root to his emotional issues right now.
He looked and sounded pretty much like the Karo we were used to seeing until after that point he slowly went into anxiety Karo.
Wasn't it his very next fight after that whole TUF stuff he said he just wanted to go home and didn't want to be there?
Did his comments and the fans / forums / news, radio sites push it over the edge and cause the self esteem issues which lead to his anxiety and then panic attacks?
no
do you even know about anxiety, bro?
This is an older thread, but since Karo is fighting on UFC fight night (a repeat from April), I wonder if it might be partially attributed to head trauma.
Certain structures in the brain modulate fear and anxiety like the reticular activating system (RAS)?
Those guys take a lot of punishment and seems like it's only a matter of time we'd see something like this.
Having said that, I don't recall anyone in boxing ever getting a fear of fighting (or fighting in public).
Something ain't right, and I think we can agree on that.
More likely he already mental issues at the time.
you want to talk to me bro!
The juvenile outburst was probably symptomatic rather than causative, but you're going to get an adverse selection of imbalanced people in the game anyway.
YourFathersUncle - Or you guys could be reading way too much into it, and drawing conclusions about the lives of people that you know very little about.
This would never happen on the UG.
ducking Fitch fucked his shit all up
yes...like many mental issues these days...its a result of overanalyzation of oneself, which was probably caused by him, for the first time, seeing himself objectively
The larger issue is people on the internet thinking they can watch a clip on TV of someone then somehow play doctor and diagnose what they think is a problem while not living ONE MINUTE in their world.. Pure speculation as if you know whats going on in his life..
Fighters Accountants Plumbers everyone has issues over something or other...... show me someone in life who is a completely calm, clear thinking, kind, well adjusted person all of the time...... they must be an android.... they dont exist imo.
Whatever is going on his life will pass and he will be back to his usual self...... we all have our shit to deal with.
I think it comes from getting a bit older and having that earth shattering realization that he isnt invincible and cannot rely on raw talent alone to win any more.

Pure speculation as if you know whats going on in his life..If you read my post you'll see that I'm generalizing. Does head trauma cause emotional issues due to injury and damage to brain structures which are involved in fear and anxiety.
I researched specific brain areas involved and speculated. Nowhere am I trying to diagnose Karo or give him any advice. Then I go on to ask about this kind of reaction in other combat sports.
Only reason to bring up Karo is that he seemed to go from a very confident and aggressive attitude to one of almost unexplained fear and anxiety. That seems to signify a change in brain hormone levels, which are quite powerful determinants of behavior.
Karo has to fend for himself. I'm more interested in the pharmaco-pathology of brain injury, and not so much the psychology of anxiety disorder in any specific individual.
What's a discussion board for if not for discussion?
Yeah, it's hard to really get to the root of what's going on with a guy based on bits and pieces (I don't think I've even seen the Karo interview in question here) but for the most part, it's not a heck of a lot different than watching some guy lose a fight and then having people jump on here talking about what went on in the ring and why the guy lost when they don't really have a clue.
