Kazushi Sakuraba vs Kimo Leopoldo (unedited)

Kazushi Sakuraba  vs  Kimo Leopoldo  -  Shoot Boxing S-Cup 1996   (7/14/96)

Kimo beat the GOAT in his prime under 200lbs in a legit no rules fight.

Thank GOD 4 the evolution of fight shorts...

Kimbo sure looked different back then. Phone Post

This was a worked match iirc? At least from Sak's side.

 Great pull up Pro Ice.

Back then, my favorite fighter. Right before he came in "svelt" for Varelans.

It was so hard to measure his poential over the years. He was tough, loved learning JJ, had a great look for the sport (which mattered more then), and was a powerhouse with decent striking for the time.

His calves were crazy. Just too much....supplementation(?), over the years.

I don't know. Just wish he woulda won some of those later fights;Shamrock, Sapp(which he got screwed on)....

Bullshit. That was no work

 I think he meant Saku's 1st fight.

in memory of Kimo(RIP)

for later

Saku looked very green for that.  Or he worked it.

There is much debate about this fight, There is some great disscussion and comments from people that have spoken directly to, done interviews/written books about, and trained with Sak and Kimo in these threads.

Hard to be in your prime when its only your second fight

I was going to mention that as well. Sak's prime was like 99-04 or thereabouts.

CLINTK9 - was not a work. Have an interview with Saku where he says it was not. He then asks, why does everyone think that, because I lost?

i remember that one-- classic Saku response!

Just wanted to say thanks for sharing.I had no idea that these two ever fought each other.
