In most cases you only need to be moderately proficient with one takedown to get a fight to the ground. Most instructors will tell you that you train off your back first because it's the most vulnerable place to be, so get comfortable being there and with being able to get the fuck out of there. MMA is obviously a completely different animal than what applies to most BJJers.
I'm thinking Kron is using Rondas formula
Boxing ,judo, wrestling, then Sanchez approach takedown, mount, pound or sub
He might even use the guard pull but renzo vs pat style just jumping on people and hunting subs on the way down.
Ironic he's training at Cesars given Ricksons past rants
Kron will not fight anyone good in his 1st few fights so his high level BJJ will be good enough to win those fights. The only way he loses is if he gets caught.
Ronda's 1 dimensional style worked for her because the women's mms game is way behind the men's game. Her 1 dimensional skill set was enough to beat the best but now even she knows she needs to be well versed on her feet as well.
A great BJJ fighter with little to no stand up will have trouble on the regional circuit if he can't get the fight to the ground. It doesn't matter what your name is.
DisgracieJJ - Kron will fight a few times vs overmatched Japanese fighters and then retire. It's his first fight, he shouldn't fight top guys. Let him develop properly and we will see what he can do. We know he has a great BJJ base and if he trains properly he could be a very good MMA fighter. For you to dismiss him without even seeing him fight a few times is fd up.
Put him into an org like the UFC where he can't pick his opponents and he'll lose.
Kron is training striking. We all know that he has been training with Cesar's guys but he has, in the past, trained some stand up with guys like Ricardo Arona. Here are some images of him with gloves/wraps on to prove he has been training his stand up.
