Always bet on black
That was a BS stoppage. Have to agree with Snipes.
Also, notice how boxers back then didn’t hug and clinch and stall when they got close? They knew how to attack and defend on the inside, so action didn’t just stop once the boxers got close. Now? They stall hug, and the ref has to jump in all of the time.
James Toney was one of the last great ones at inside fighting. Nowadays, you have people thinking Floyd Mayweather was the epitome of defensive boxing when he relied on a lot of grabbing and holding. The current best example of this no-skill tactic that should be penalized is Devin Haney.
It’s the LNP of the boxing world.
A rare hit from Hillbo!
great fight!
Snipes was right, they saved Larry to keep alive the Cooney fight.
I have some of the most popular threads here in the last few years. We have nudes now because of my “best rack in Hollywood history” thread. That was me single handedly changing things here.
That was an awesome video. I can’t believe I’ve never seen this fight before.
Snipes running in for the kill was sick.
Definitely a throwback!
One of my all time favorite boxers.
Also love that he played Frazier in Ali.
Toney vs Jirov one of my favorites.
That’s a good thread.
Beat undefeated Ray Mercer at 42 years of age. I don’t think this win is appreciated enough. Remember Mercer had just come off of a knock out of Tommy Morrison and had huge hype going into this.
Larry Holmes is one of the most underrated heavyweight boxers in the modern era.
His jab was one of the fastest and most accurate , his heart was unmatched.
No Derick Lewis face flopping from that guy.
Love these vids. I was a huge Larry Holmes fan as a kid…
