Liddell on Jones: I have the right to my opinion |
Early last week EA Sports set up a full sized Octagon in New York's Times Square and flew some of the biggest names in MMA there, to debut the new flagship combat sports title.
Some members of the UG wondered if things were tense between UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, and UFC Hall of Famer Chuck Liddell, as the pair bickered publicly in April.
Prior to the UFC 172 main event between Jon Jones and challenger Glover Teixeira, Liddell said repeatedly that Teixeira would win it, and more.
"I think I would have been a horrible matchup for him," added Liddell. "I would have walked through his punches and he wouldn't have caught me with anything... I would have found a way to hit him, and I hit too hard."
Liddell's friend and former trainer John Hackleman is the long-time trainer of Glover Teixeira.
The day after the fight, which Teixeira lost, Jones took to Instagram, and rubbed it in.

Talking all that trash before the fight.. you mad bro?
However, in an interview with FOX Sports, Liddell said he is not in fact mad, bro.
"It's nothing personal," said Liddell. "That's my opinion, that's his opinion. Opinions don't change. I'm not going to change my opinion, but it doesn't have to be personal. I don't get personal with guys."
"Guys get mad at me. It's nothing personal. I like you, you're a nice person. It doesn't mean if I say you have a weak punch, I don't like you as a person."
"It's just my opinion,. If you don't like it, I don't care. Actually, I've put my time in. I deserve an opinion. I've got the right to my opinion."
Liddell's kids however have not forgotten, and won't be playing the EA Sports UFC game as Jones.
"With me and Jon going back and forth, I don't think they'll play as Jon," said Liddell. "My family, they take it more personal than I do."
